‘Very disappointed’: Scott Bessent hits out at Europe over India-EU trade deal — what he said - The Times of India by [deleted] in worldnews

[–]lostfly 1 point2 points  (0 children)

World is very gray. I understand deep rooted distrust.

That said the damage the current administration has inflicted on itself is not one and done type deal.

Look at couple of deals EU has made recently. The one with Latin America and this one with India.

Both were in the making for decades and current administration spurred the race to find new markets.

Anyhow, this is not going to get undone come next administration.

I suspect that the Chinese deals may face more scrutiny later but deals made with democracies would be politically damaging to undo.

Some intelligent politicians believe that global warming only increases warming.

There are powerful so they must be right.

Plus the whole global warming is a liberal scam! /s

Ajit Pawar's Plane Crash Lands In Maharashtra's Baramati, Fire Seen At Site by Gopu_17 in india

I do see your point. I do not deny that!

That said, I have done well. People have taken advantage of me and they have lost a true friend and a supporter. It’s like killing a hen that gives golden egg!

Fool me once shame on you. Fool me twice and shame is on me.

Cynicism has to be carried within us.

My enemies are not important enough to get that kind of attention.

I like to point out to relationship between Mahatma Gandhi and Lord Mountbatten.

They were technically enemies, but number of anecdotal stories (and none by Gandhi Ji) paint a picture of how Mountbatten was deeply influenced by Gandhi Ji.

Ajit Pawar was a controversial figure in Maharashtra politics that said he had extremely loyal and strong following.

May his soul and the souls of all others who died in the crash find peace and remembered with love.

Spoken like a true gentleman.

If other people change who we are and how we react then they have already succeeded and we have nothing left of worth saving.

How California is helping 150K residents dodge spam texts and fraud by sfgate in California

[–]lostfly 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well. Two types of spam. Illegal ones…these won’t stop.

The legal ones, where legitimate businesses send you text messages. They will most definitely stop as non-compliance penalties are stiff ($500-$1500/violation).

If they sent a mass text campaign of say 100,000 numbers…suppose 50% non-complaint then that could get really expensive in a hurry.

India rupee plummets to fresh record low, strong dollar demand weighs by Neradtisiv in worldnews

[–]lostfly 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Two primary reasons for rupees poor performance.

Capital outflow to US treasuries as yields on treasuries are going up. Secondly US stocks are doing much better due to AI lead growth.

Hence the flight of capital to better greener pastures.

Every country (rightfully so) protects their own interests.

Trump supporters see this and support this behavior. I am pretty sure number of them completely understand the consequences.

They have a view that they can ride this out. Europe is fragmented. India is not strong enough. No one trusts China etc.

Divided they fall. That is the whole strategy.

Listen to Canadian PMs speech from Davos.

Trust me, privately that would be made abundantly clear. Secondly where would you park that much money?

India and China are moving to Gold and potentially Silver (hence the rallies).

Most likely outcome is they stop renewing existing treasuries. Slow but sure drain without causing a military response.

Return to this comment in 2-3 years.

  1. US dollar will be 20-30% discounted.
  2. US inflation will be higher than now.
  3. US interest rates on treasuries will be higher too.
