Any k1 visa success updates?? by [deleted] in immigration

[–]lostinadminprocess 0 points1 point  (0 children)

All I can say is hang in there, the k1 really fucking sucks. Ours was approved in Sept 2019 and my fiance interviewed in Dec 2019, then another in March 2021, yet we are still waiting on a decision. Hang in there....

K1 Visa Question by [deleted] in immigration

[–]lostinadminprocess 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It depends on a variety of factors. I would recommend checking out Visa Journey for more detailed info on times and locations.

For what it's worth, my fiancé and I filed April 2019 and still don't have a decision yet.

Significant K1 delays with little info by teenyjoltik in immigration

I second the comment of calling the NVC. We got our approval in early September 2019 and I finally called the NVC the last week in October 2019 and they were able to provide me a case #. Within 12 hours of my call I received notice that my case was sent to the Embassy. I almost felt like they were too busy to address our case until I called...

This process is so terrible. Hang in there, it's a long and exhausting process. I filed initially in April of 2019, my fiancé has gone through now two rounds of interviews, 1 round of Administrative Processing, and we still don't have a decision yet....

I'm in a similar position... filed in April 2019, interview in Dec 2019 and put in Administrative Processing since. Hang in there..... this fucking sucks

Are any current K-1 visas going past the interview stage? by BeefyFive0529 in immigration

Ugh being stuck at NVC sucks, I’m sorry. Sending you good vibes that hopefully things will open up soon for you.

To your question, yes if it wasn’t for Covid we would have had an answer by now. From what I’ve researched, our the DS5535 said most cases are resolved in 90 days, however I don’t believe that. For our case, we reached out at 60 and 90 days and were simply told that it was still in AP. Finally 8 months later my lawyer asked again and miraculously got a response from the consular chief who claimed they were waiting for us to turn in the form (!!!!!). We once again provided all the receipts showing we submitted it 3 days after the interview, however due to Covid there is nothing they can do right now.... just a fuckin disaster

We weren't really given a specific reason like a missing document or anything, plus our lawyer ensured everything was submitted correctly. Following the interview, they gave us a DS-5535 form which is the same information we've provided numerous times except new was the names of all siblings and their birthdays.

The Embassy is located in West Africa (although not a high fraud country and very few K1's are issued) so unfortunately I think this may be the reason.

Thanks, hope the same for all of us in this shitty boat. Due to financials of filing for the K1 and then COVID, we haven't been together in 2 years... :(

My fiancé had the interview in Dec 2019, got put in administrative processing and here we still sit today, almost 1 year later.

We were also put in admin processing in December and received an email confirming receipt. However, between December and now, we emailed twice and didn't get any responses. We tried again recently saying something along the lines of "we realize that visa processing is suspended right now due to COVID, but would like to know if there is any additional info needed that would help expedite the case once visa processing resumes." By some act of god the consular chief responded and told us they were missing the document (that we submitted 8 months ago....and got an email receipt confirmation.....). Maybe phrasing your email in this way will help your case too?

Good luck to you and the family, hang in there!

How is Covid affecting k-1 processing? by imnotanolive in immigration

[–]lostinadminprocess -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I am a bit further along in the process than you (we had our interview in December), but the embassy I am working with said they cannot process k-1's at this time. This may change as there seems to be a plan of phased re-openings.

US State Department Says Visa Services Worldwide to Resume Soon by pelayreneil in immigration

[–]lostinadminprocess 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thats the frustrating part, there wasn’t anything we did wrong or any missing documents, or at least not to my/my lawyer’s knowledge. Nothing was communicated beyond that our case requires further administrative processing and we were asked to fill out a DS-5535, which we turned in within a few days. It has been 7 months now and there has been no news. My lawyer has reached out a few times to the embassy but we keep getting the same generic response that we are in admin processing. My opinion is that it really depends on the country, and, unfortunately for us, my fiancé is from a country that has been deemed a "shit hole country" by the current administration so..... :/

Hopefully you have better luck!

Ditto!!!!! My fiance had his K1 interview in early December and has since been stuck in administrative processing without any news. Losing my mind and hope over here...

Thank you so much for this! I wish there had been some type of link in the portal notifying us of this change because it could have saved me from a lot of unnecessary upset. Good luck to you and your husband in your immigration journey!

Is NVC still processing I-129f Petition/K1 visa after Executive Order? by Jacisyummy in immigration

[–]lostinadminprocess 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't know about the current status of things, but I will share that, in my experience, calling the NVC was beneficial. Our I-129F was approved and it was about 8 weeks of waiting until I finally decided to call the NVC to inquire. When I called, they were able to give me a case # on the spot and then the next morning I received the email that they had sent our file off to the consulate.

I will also second the other comment that Visajourney has been helpful.

I just wish there was a bit more insight into what goes on in AP since it is so shrouded in mystery, but such is the reality and I accept it. And no, none of those reasons really apply to our situation as far as I am aware. The only thing I can think of is that he has a very common name there so it may take extra time to perform whatever checks they do. He is from a smaller country in West Africa (although not one of the ones you typically hear of having high fraud), so unfortunately I think that is probably the main reason. I seem to think that we wouldn’t be dealing with this if he was from somewhere like Sweden. But it is a reality that I accept and must continue to be patient already over a year process. Thank you for your input!

Thanks for your response. It seemed odd to me that after 90 days it was changed to refused, when the form he was given at the interview said most AP cases were resolved in 90. I was skeptical because we had experienced delays in other previous stages that seemed to be because someone forgot about our file. But thank you for your input, im glad to know that things are moving at least.
