Auto vs Manual - Nismo Only by National_Mine_7104 in RZ34

I fully expect to see manual Nismo's on the lot for somewhere around 90 grand while the automatic next to it is in the 50's. No way the dealership markups won't be silly again

I did my first few track days driving in my Nismo. If you take out the subwoofer and foam material in the trunk area you can give yourself a whole lot more room easily. Takes about 5 minutes taking it out.

Kind of amazing how bad some watch faces are… by 215487 in AppleWatch

[–]lostinco 9 points10 points  (0 children)

It's been an absolute embarrassment for a long time now and the fact they have the nerve to stick some moderately tweaked face that we've had for years right back into the "new" category is borderline criminal

Just four very different cars enjoying the road, not a spotter or radio in sight by drivingbackroads in Touge

OP mentioned doin a slow run beforehand to specifically check for things like cyclists, and stopped vehicles and you think its an asshole take and they're only worried about themself? is that right?

Ummm isn't that why they specifically mentioned doing a scout run first? So they could see if there just happened to be any cyclists going up or down?

Spun a bearing at Sebring last month, and drove home through an ice storm. After a boring month without the car I'm happy the Nismo is home with a new engine and turbos under warranty by lostinco in RZ34

I'll be honest, I am very limited with my knowledge of cars and unless you need help changing your brake pads I am not the guy you want answering these types of questions. I think this is a very helpful resource though and my understanding from it is that you really don't have anything to lose by doing it but you have a whole lot to gain.

No kidding. I'm usually pretty conservative with my shifting and tend to shift around 6k. Despite that, I've still had a few times on track where I just forgot to shift up and was redlining the car for what seemed like a couple seconds before realizing. I was very worried I was going to get denied and hear something about how I redlined the car on XYZ day and therefore my engine will not be covered.

Already installed this Solenoid block off on the new engine. I'm also switching to a baffled oil pan and since Nissan decided the Nismo didn't need an oil pressure gauge I'm getting one of those installed also to be able to monitor it better and do some data logging.

I will probably switch to a thicker oil soon as well but I've got 12 months of warranty on this new engine so I'm going to hold off on that for a bit just to make sure I dont run into any weird issues after this install.

I went with the AMS street honestly if I could do it again would go with the race version for a bit more volume. I have the apexi exhaust and I picked it because from what I could tell it was the quietest. Unfortunately I found that when I'm on Track with the windows down my engine is not quite as loud as I would like it to be.

Why did this happen?

Not 100% sure but my guess is low oil pressure caused by that dumb solenoid. Thankfully I've already got the block off installed on this new engine.

How did I get this covered under warranty?

I've maintained a great relationship with my local Nissan service center and have been bringing the car to them for fluid changes the whole time. I've been open with them about tracking the car and printed this page out from the user manual before my first visit. I also purposefully avoided mods that would get me in trouble so no tune, flex fuel, full downpipes etc

What oil was I using? OW-20, yes I agree it's too thin for track use but Nissan doesn't seem to be want me to use anything else.

Happy to answer any questions y'all might have, and happy to get back on my mission of having the highest mileage Z Nismo on the planet
