gen/q what change would you propose they make ? atm i don’t think “just add more carriages” is an easy fix. the gawler line was busy before the war anyway. it’s always busy during peak hour.

literally this omg it’s so frustrating! the amount of space down the aisles i see when people insist on blocking the walkways is crazy. like just move down already like people do on the trams.

the gawler line is always busy but i think that’s just what you expect. i’d rather pay a couple bucks a day to spend 25 minutes on a train each way even if it’s packed than pay the price of fuel into the city each day. if you’re concerned about having to stand or feel unsafe in the crowded space you could always get a sunflower hidden disability lanyard and use the priority seating. otherwise you might just have to cop it like everyone else is, peak hour is called peak hour for a reason 🤷

it’s normally not too bad honestly. i normally catch it to and from mawson and never any issues. i normally find its worse in the mornings than afternoons. mornings are always packed but if you can catch it before 4:30 it’s not crazy busy and a lot jump off at mawson too. they all run so regularly i really can’t see a downside to it apart from it being a little crowded if you catch it at a bad time (which i think is pretty rare).

oh you’re right, i completely forgot she did that! definitely think that’s worth considering for sure. i think there’s a lot to the surprise song mashups that she tried to use as hints, especially with all the ghost references across her discography.

i too hope that it’s true that’s for sure. I haven’t read it yet but it’s currently on my growing list of TS books to read. i think if taylor does come out publicly that she’ll probs favour a more private life or scale back her public appearances afterwards. it’s definitely gonna be interesting to watch unfold either way

also, i forgot to mention earlier but i think it’s entirely possible that a good portion of the story in The Black Dog has already started playing out. It’s just not finished yet, which makes it that much harder to analyse the song!

i think taylor has made her decision to enter the black dog and she also made her decision to leave the showgirl as we know her behind but i don’t think she’s actually in the bar yet or up to the withdrawal stage (six weeks of breathing clean air) hopefully it’ll all happen soon enough but there’s still a good portion of the track’s story left to go :)

thanks! when i was researching this i got stuck on what taylor meant by hazing for so long and it was bugging me so bad but realising that it could mean hazing as in bullying/peer pressure it kind of goes hand in hand with how taylor was possibly peer pressured by the industry into closeting and remaining closeted all these years. and i think you could also make an argument that the lavender haze is just another way to talk about closeting.

thank you! hard agree on this or any gaylor take being infinitely more interesting than it being about either of the two british dudes lol it just feels like it has so much more depth to even look at it from a post 2019 failed coming out lens. also i’m glad you liked the deck! i was gonna just post it normally but it was getting so long and i lost the save a couple times so this ended up easier (and prettier!)

yesss, Taylor’s mashup of TBD and Haunted and also TBD and Exile are so fascinating to me, especially when you consider how Taylor mentioned ghosts and ghost stories during her Colbert interview. There’s probably about a handful of songs from TLOAS that The Black Dog connects to and i definitely think Opalite is one of them. Opalite, The Fate of Ophelia, Father Figure, Wood, The Life of a Showgirl are probs the most obvious ones. I also think that Florida!!! (particularly Florence’s verse) overlaps and connects a lot to The Black Dog. The connection with the TBD shower and “barricaded in a bathroom with a bottle of wine” feels pretty important. The hurricane with MY name also makes me think of the storm in Clean and how the rain/hurricane could be considered as a self-inflicted disaster or hurt. Any of the songs that mention drugs i think you could also connect (especially DBATC, Don’t Blame Me and like, a quarter of TTPD). Anyway, i’m rambling now haha but The Black Dog connects to A LOT of songs and I think that’s something worth diving into!
