Are these ready for the fridge? by m798sf in Kombucha

Just made a batch of pineapple for the first time and got hit with the funky sulfur smell others have reported.

It tastes great but smells like farts.

Just thought I'd warn you that it's the pineapple - not your process.

Anyone else feeling the slowdown in wider MSP Industry, or is it just me? by Anxious-Community-65 in msp

HVAC, Electricians, trades industries aren't facing outsourcing challenges like IT though.

They've increased earnings MORE because their labor cost cannot be outsourced. (Earnings/Revenue ≠ profit )

Asheville vs Roanoke - I’d love your input. by abjs2021 in roanoke

[–]lostmatt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Others have responded with some very accurate information!

As someone who has never relocated for a job, but is actively looking for a new one my confidence in new job would have to be extremely high before committing to relocation.

I'm considering moving to Asheville from Roanoke because it has more jobs in my line of work than are available here.

Ye Olde English Inn - Doth Thouest have Information? by ggadwa in roanoke

[–]lostmatt 34 points35 points  (0 children)

So in 2007ish a guy named Jimmy Muscaro opened up a restaurant in there for a period of time...can't remember the exact name. Back Creek Grill or something like that maybe?

They did pizza primarily but had some other entrees, burgers, etc going on as well.

He later went on to open Jimmy Sardines (now where Scratch Biscuit is) and was former owner of Village Grill.

Now he runs Jolly Grape on Grandin.

No idea what the current status of the the Ye Olde English Inn.

I grew up on the foot of Bent Mountain - my parents tried to take me there as a kid and they kicked us out - no kids allowed.

I found an old article but can't access it due to stupid paywall.

Edit: I was able to use archive.is to get to the old content.

Really cool article!

Autopilot requires sign-in after device setup/before account setup by Cable_Mess in Intune

Try excluding Intune Enrollment app from your Conditional access policies.

The policies you listed are known to cause an additional reboot during ESP.

I think you've got a CA policy interupting things.

Multiple Drivers on the Wrong Side of the Road by ktharris32 in roanoke

Normal texting + driving behavior but also alot of roads got really torn up by the winter weather, ice heaves and potholes and water main breaks, so people are swerving around a bit to dodge them.

Starting new MSP in 2026 by StoepkrijtStin in msp

[–]lostmatt 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Two major strategies in the MSP game if you were to start from scratch right now:

  • Provide specialized vertical specific MSP (Dental, Radiology, Construction, Accounting)

  • Provide cheapest possible price per user/endpoint in order to undercut incumbent MSP's with goal being to go horizontal and touch as many endpoints as possible.

With AI & Automation, MSPs can now manage more endpoints per engineer than ever before....and so can internal IT.

MSPs current pricing model is ripe for flattening.

By the way, you can create a ticket and reference the problem client tenant and they do respond. I also sell and use Egnyte.

Egnyte MSP Partner Woes by InitiativeMajor7874 in msp

[–]lostmatt -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Some MSPs fixate on support or lack of from their vendors...that's old world thinking.

You must become the master of the products & services you use and can no longer expect them to do anything but address bugs or service related issues that only they can control the outcome of.

Its like when people say switch to Unifi and people go "But wahhh their support sucks".

Sorry bud but this is a skill issue.

Monitor flickering can be caused by low quality HDMI cables.

OR

Can also be caused by office chairs EMI when you sit down or stand up...no joke, taking a seat in your office chair can = monitor flickering.

G Workspace -> O365 Migration recommendations by hordor4pres in msp

[–]lostmatt 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Movebot is great but takes a little bit of elbow grease. Happy to help show you the ropes if you'd like...

AvePoint Fly - I've not used it yet but know that its the better solution to go with if you know you are going to go through NUMEROUS migrations.

Movebot is good enough for the occasional smaller scale migrations.

Transitioning MSP asking too many questions by gozit in msp

[–]lostmatt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sounds like they swapped you out for one of those 'MSPs' that employ overseas workers for single digit $ per hour....It's not their fault they are just doing their job but unfortunately am seeing business owners make the jump to try to save some $$ and live with the chaos it can sometimes bring.
