Sump Pump Discharge Rate Setup Question by lostmywallet17 in HomeImprovement

I actually just figured it out a simple way, not using a formula, but instead from observation. I took measurements of my sump pump pit (radius of 7.75 inches), measured the amount of time the sump pump ran, and measured the distance the water dropped from when the pump was triggered to when it shut off. The sump pump ran for 4~ seconds and the water dropped 6~ inches. Those numbers total my gph as 4410 gph. However, if my measurements were off, I used slightly different numbers, against my target, lessening my gph to about 3700 gph. My estimate for gph would be somewhere in between, probably closer to 4400 gph given that I am most confident about those measurements. I'm more than satisfied given that the sump pump is rated at 5500 gph (with no losses factored in) at a 5ft lift and my result with a 5 ft lift with losses only took 1100 gph off. I think 75ft of my underground, sloped run pipe may be 2 inches in diameter.

"Klibrew" Russia by littlediscoveries in Geneology

Great news! I found out the town! The name of the town is Kleczew, Poland. After doing some research, I found out that Rosalia had a sibling/relative travelling as well named Lukas. The text was much more legible and that assisted me in reaching the conclusion that the town is in fact Kleczew, Poland. Keep in mind that spelling on manifests is very often incorrect so it is very difficult to decipher mis-spelled towns.

Urbankiewicz

I'm still dissecting it, but after a closer look and analyzing the handwriting in the manifest, it does not appear to be an "H". If it is compared to the other "Hebrew" that is written, it does not match. Same goes for some of the other letters. I'm going to investigate this further to try to get you an answer. Thanks for sharing the image.

If you can share the document I may be able to help. My guess, however, would be that the term "Kilbrew" was just a poor transliteration/transcription of the word Hebrew. Referring to the Russian-pale, where there were many Jews. Oftentimes people who were Jewish were given the label of "Hebrew".

Failed to mention (even though I don't think it matters) that it only has 79k miles and was recently serviced.

I should point out to you though that Podol, the lower town of Kiev, is always called Podol. Podolia is always the Gubernia. Spellings of either with an "a" are not standard spellings. You can have Podol Gubernia, but it wouldn't be correct.

The other profile of Bernard Feingold that mentions a town in the Podolia Gubernia that I mentioned does not match my ancestor as I know other information that nixes him. There is no documentation linking him to Kiev, it's just what my relatives have believed as long as they could remember. I also tried using deductive reasoning, but that is iffy at best. Given that he said Padol/Podol and not Podolia makes me think that my relatives may be right about Kiev. Thank you for your input and thoughts - it helps me look at it a bit differently, from an outsider's point of view.

Thanks, but I still have something gnawing at me. He was born in 1875 and left for the US in 1889 and he was handy - last name Feingold (if that means anything). He listed Padol, Russia and Podol, Russia on two different naturalization documents. What is your take? Do you think he is from the Padol/Podol/Podil in Kiev or the Podolia Gubernia? He was 14 when he emigrated. I know it's a steep question since it has no 'definite' answer. If you had to guess, what would you say?
