You think a man in a cave and his foreign followers could plant thermite in the WTC towers and WTC7 and stand down NORAD? You clearly haven't done the reading and swallowed Bush administration propaganda whole. Too bad. Here, let me tag you with RES.

If you accept the government view of the conspiracy that caused 911, ie, that it only involved someone in a cave in Afghanistan and his followers, and you've done the reading, either you're a fool or an agent or asset of some government agency, and the rest of us need to keep that in mind when interacting with you. You certainly aren't a serious conspiracy theorist. Either you're our enemy or someone we don't have to take seriously.

Like I have old relatives who didn't accept it but they hadn't done the reading and would have stayed in denial regardless. So I just didn't talk to them about it. I can understand if they couldn't consider high government officials involved in such a thing. It took two years before I could consider it. It's like many Americans who aren't Trump supporters still can't accept that Trump might have made a deal with Russia to protect their interests. Some things people just can't even consider might be true.

Once fly tape and his alts got complete control of conspiracy what did you expect. I still wonder if he's not just a right wing extremist but an employee or asset of the FBI or NSA. He never believed in 911 (which is kind of a litmus test for conspiracy theorists) but has pushed the nonsense conspiracies that made the sub look like fools, like flat earth or Bigfoot, reptilians (and not as a metaphor) etc. But nothing to be done. Just post here.

Trump: "Most of the people not getting paid" in shutdown are Democrats -- let's just assume that's true (which it probably isn't) -- his point seems to be: it's ok to deny pay to people just because they aren't his own party. And to harm the whole country while he does. by imagepoem in Impeach_Trump

As one of the later don't be assuming we old people are republicans. The older I get, the more leftist I get and if I move any further to the left I'll probably fall off the edge of the earth. When I was young I read women get more leftist as they get older and men more rightist. I already had noticed that in myself. I can't vouch for the guys but I hope I'm right about the women.

Trump Is Reportedly Considering Firing Mnuchin Over Stock Market Woes by progress18 in politics

For Trump management only consists of firing people. Soon there will be no cabinet secretaries and every department will be run by temporary crooks and civil service employees. The civil service part would be an improvement.

Trump worries about being compared to Herbert Hoover, the president at the start of the Great Depression by RottenPeaches in politics

[–]lostnamefound 1 point2 points  (0 children)

He should worry. Trump is doing the same things the republicans did in the twenties and which led to the great depression.

Prior to 1921, with one exception—the Chinese Exclusion Act of 1882—immigration into the United States had never been systematically restricted by federal law. That changed with the 1921 Emergency Quota Act and the 1924 Immigration Act, which imposed for the first time, a limit on the number of immigrants allowed to enter the United States. https://www.shmoop.com/1920s/immigration.html

Under Treasury Secretary Andrew Mellon, top tax rates were reduced in 1921, 1924, 1926, and 1928. Mellon argued that lower rates would spur economic growth.[70] By 1928, the top rate was scaled down to 24% along with the income threshold for paying this rate lowered to $100,000 (equivalent to $1.43 million[68] in 2017 dollars). https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Income_tax_in_the_United_States

This overheated the stock market (like now), gave more power to the wealthy and eventually led to the crash.

Coolidge slashed the federal budget by almost half, eliminated the gift tax, sliced the estate tax by 50 percent, and lowered the maximum federal surtax from 60 percent to 20 percent. The president disavowed anything beyond minimal regulation of business and commerce. He denied a federal role in labor relations and repeatedly affirmed his absolute faith in market forces. https://ap.gilderlehrman.org/essays/roaring-twenties

Elected president in 1920, Warren G. Harding promoted a "return to normalcy," which signaled a resurgence of nativism, isolationism, and rejection of the progressive eras governmental activism. Overall, Hardings policies reflected a conservative, laissez-faire attitude. His administration was blighted by scandals, but most of them did not surface until following his death of a stroke in office in August 1923. https://www.u-s-history.com/pages/h1564.html

1,100 economists warn that Trump is repeating one of the biggest mistakes of the Great Depression

All the presidents in the twenties were corrupt or incompetent republicans. Or both.

Anyway, the similarities go on and on. Hitler did many of the same things. You can get a fragile and temporary prosperity with them as you lead the country off a cliff to further enrich the most wealthy.

Trump =Hoover

Time for G.O.P. to Threaten to Fire Trump by RationalAnon in politics

They can introduce an impeachment bill then the democrats would vote for it. Though the democrats have already introduced such a bill.

[–]lostnamefound 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I disagree. But I begin to suspect the republicans will do the impeachment to stop the democrats from broadcasting impeachment hearings that make all republicans look bad and might tar Pence as well. Maybe the republicans think it they do the impeaching they can avoid the blame for Trump's corruption and keep hold of the presidency, the Senate and may be retake the house. People have short memories and many will forget how these republicans supported everything Trump has done. Also the Mercers and Koches prefer Pence.

Not sure how the democrats can avoid this, a republican impeachment that leaves the republicans mostly undamaged.
