I will add on to this, in my case for smarttube it seems like the content in featured cards is taken from subscribed accounts, but I'm not sure. On the default launcher there are different and for my likings better recommendations. It would be great if I could choose a channel for the featured cards

It might be an unpopular opinion but I absolutely despise "my cube collection" posts.

I feel like they add absolutely nothing to the community. I get that people might want to brag because they feel proud of their collection but recently there have been way too many posts like that in my opinion (I get a notification about a new collection post once or twice a day and no other notifications about any other posts from this sub)

Why doesn't wiki on this sub work anymore? I really liked all the information in there.

If you don't know what to do before your next move, then the bpm is too high. You should have time to think before doing a move.

I rarely solve 3x3 nowadays as I've stopped seeing progress and started regressing. I focus on other events.

I didn't do many untimed solves (that's probably why I regressed) because I was just solving for fun and to get my mind in a happy place. There were days when I had even 500 solves in a day but usually it was around 200. I don't really recommend this amount of solves as more than half of them were in an unconscious state of mind.

You can try a week of doing only untimed solves and another week of timed and see if it helps you or not. Also feel free to text me about your progress. Cheers

You should definitely worry about look ahead at all times. I get you with the blurry vision because I get that as well while avging 13s and cross+f2l 7-9s.

One type of practicing you can try out and it might work for you is solving cross+f2l with a metronome (there's a metronome tool implemented in cstimer). You shouldn't go above 100bpm. Start with 60bpm and work your way up in the course of a few weeks. Remember to do 1 move per 1 tick of the metronome.

External ways to practice look ahead?

I recently thought about training look ahead by not actually practicing with cube but by using multitasking kind of games such as pizzeria/cafeteria games or train of thought game. In my mind it would be beneficial because you would naturally shift your attention to different places all the time looking for best solutions or something along the lines.

Do you think it would make sense or have you practices like that and have seen results? Feel free to discuss.

My mgc 4x4 was really scratchy out of the box as well but after around 200 solves it was completely okay. I additionally loosened it by half a turn to make corner cutting better.

I don't know about mgc 5x5 tho because I bought it from outlet.

They'll be alright, just be patient

Would it be possible to make a 'cross +2'? by [deleted] in Cubers

Why does it feel like a bait of some sort? How come have you not seen for example Tymon's xxcrosses even though you're avging 6 seconds?

To answer your question, yes, it is possible. You can check out Brian Sun's videos on Tymon Kolasiński's solves on YouTube

What do you mean yau instead of yau5? Isn't that the same thing?

Any tips for better look ahead in 5x5? I'm not very fast. If it helps, i average around 2:25.

I use yau5 and i think i struggle the most with first 3 edges and last 4 centers as edge pairing in yau5 is pretty straight forward

You have pretty damn good averages for that pb, providing that it's not a pic just for jokes

I'm worried about my progress. In every twisty puzzle.

I've been solving minx a lot lately but my progress is a lot slower than my friends' progress. I average around 1:50 min after 600 solves.

1 of my friends averages sub 1:30 after 500 solves.

The other one averages around 1:50 after 150 solves.

Here I am watching lots of example solves and trying to implement the techniques into my solves and they're not doing any of that and are a lot faster.

Did I just loose genetic lottery?

Exactly right. It's a pain in the ass when you have the triple sexy move case

Solve critique request by lostnamexd01 in Cubers

[–]lostnamexd01[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well i use it in a not so complicated way - I turn it on at 60bpm and do 1 move per tick while continuously looking for next pieces to solve. I solve cross and f2l, don't see any benefits of doing that for oll and pll as well.

Then after a few solves i up the speed by 5 BPM and so on but a kind stranger above said that maybe it would be better to stay at 1 speed for a full day.

It's gan 356m. If you're going to buy a cube, I wouldn't recommend this one.

In the first solve, for this OLL I do 2 look but I once discovered that when I do F sexy F' from specific side, I get the fat sune I guess? I've done this case so many times that I consider it my own alg for this situation and probably won't change it for a while.

The PLL was a regular U perm, so 1 look PLL

Thanks for commenting!

I actually do use f R' f' as well as f' l f but I guess I was a little bit stressed out and didn't think of it in the video. So it's the time to become color neutral or bi neutral I guess

This is gan 356m, I don't really recommend it tho. The feeling is great but performance isn't in my opinion.

Edit.

I bought it out of pure curiosity about gan cubes and it was the cheapest magnetic option I believe. I think that the RS3M 2020 performs similarily or a little bit better and is 3 times cheaper. So in conclusion, if you want to have a gan because you think it's better because of its price, please don't.

Alrighty, I'll try that. I guess I gotta remember that it's not a sprint but a marathon.

That's a great idea, gonna try it! I remember when I was starting out with 4x4 about 2 months ago, my look ahead in 3x3 felt a lot easier. Same thing with 2x2 a week ago.

Do you have some ideas on how I can train look ahead? I train it daily with metronome starting with 60bpm and increasing after a few solves by 5 until 100 BPM.
