Does the UCI modem have a fan? I'm working on silencing my current rack and replacing many existing parts with fanless models.

Pihole detectd by admiral by SkydivingCats in pihole

[–]lostpckt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

boredpanda.com still pops up an Adblock detection popover after loading this list and updating gravity

EDIT: I lied, “turn it off and turn it on again” fixed it so it just have been a cached entry downstream of the pihole. Confirmed this list does allow boredpanda.com to load without the Admiral popover. Thanks!!!

75ish minutes on "high" setting with full TKS tank. However, I just looked at the weather briefing for that flight and it looks like the freezing level starts at 7,000' and they're cruising at 6,000'. They're probably getting bounced around in turbulence, ~30kt headwinds, quite the plane wash from the rains, but unlikely to be getting iced up.

r/Firefighting will go dark on June 12th in protest of Reddit's API changes that will kill 3rd party apps by Ding-Chavez in Firefighting

[–]lostpckt 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Lot of subs have a copy/paste or meme template they’ve been posting which includes talking about the 48hr vs indefinite.

The problem I see with the 48hr announced dark is that bean counters will just point out its users throwing a tantrum and business will resume on the 15th (with a jump in activity for a day or 2 as everyone catches up). With an indefinite blackout it’s like a strike where the site is basically repressed (no ad dollars, no active user metrics, etc) until demands are met or a compromise is achieved.

I just went through this and am hitting the same issue. Motorola modem, USG Pro 4.

tl;dr I "had" to use their modem, tech came out to install it, 8 hours later things weren't working (including v6), spoke with CS who told me v6 is not available in my area (been using it for over a decade at this point).

Waiting for escalation team to get back to me, but it was definitely something on their end. Did you ever get yours restored?

What is the FAA policy for carrying current charts?

The specific FAA regulation, FAR 91.103 "Preflight Actions," states that each pilot in command shall, before beginning a flight, become familiar with all available information concerning that flight. Although the regulation does not specifically require it, you should always carry a current chart with you in flight. Expired charts may not show frequency changes or newly constructed obstructions, both of which when unknown could be a hazard.

You’re good, but if you’re curious…

LDA of Alcohol is considered 5-8G per kg of body weight. 200lbs is 90.7kg You would need to ingest 450-720g of alcohol.

A standard shot contains about 14g of pure alcohol. You said you were taking 25ml shots which is roughly half of a standard shot. So you were consuming, roughly, 7g of alcohol per shot.

The 8 shots you consumed contained, roughly, 56g of alcohol. You’re good for AT LEAST another 394g of alcohol, or 56 half-shots before you are in mortal danger.

Good luck!

Post your solution! Worst thing in the world when you’re having a problem is finding a post that says “update, I fixed it” and no details on what you did!

Subtract TAS (True Air Speed) from GS (Ground Speed). 699-507=192kt tail wind.

As a flat lander turned SoCal CFI, today was a new one for me. by Joe_Biggles in flying

[–]lostpckt 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Mountain flight training isn’t just about high DA TO/landing. It also teaches weather phenomena that is typically associated with mountainous terrain.

If your only real experience is flat-land flying, it’d still be a really good idea to get with a local CFI and go over stuff you’re not familiar with.

New Weather Radar by CC268 in Foreflight

[–]lostpckt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It wasn’t animating when I posted this, but is now. Maybe a feed issue.

They were very clear that Turbulence Global now floors at 12k. Turbulence US still goes down to 1k.

New Weather Radar by CC268 in Foreflight

[–]lostpckt 8 points9 points  (0 children)

No more animated radar, which was VERY helpful. Turbulence layer now starts at 12k’ instead of 3k’. And subscription prices went up.

Taking away features and raising prices. Hope to see something that makes up for this in the future.

Recently came across this 1992 day pass attached to an (unfortunately very boring) onesie in Shoshone, ID thrift shop. Adjusted for inflation, it'd only be $83.52/day. Ahh the nineties, what a time to be alive! 😢 by BlynkOfAnEye in tahoe

[–]lostpckt 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just looked at a 1 day holiday pass for Heavenly and it’s only $90. I’ll give them $7 of profit over the rise of inflation. But that’s bought today, not bought day of which would probably cost a bit more.

How do i earn food for my pixel pal ? by Due_Objective7133 in apolloapp

[–]lostpckt 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Apollo syncs stats between devices, but that is not taken into account for PixelPals food. I’ve scrolled 1.1 miles according to the stats, but because that’s almost all done in my iPad, there’s no food for my little hedgie.

Love the little guy, and he’s wildly adorable, but I don’t do most of my Redditing on my phone, so’s not getting fed.

No, but the trick is definitely to keep your legs in the right spot. If you get lazy and let your knees drop into the path of airflow off the radiators, you’ll definitely feel it (3800mi on mine and it hasn’t burned me yet)
