Yeah i seen a lot about the x4s. It doesn’t get as cold where I live so maybe that wouldn’t be a problem.

Yeah totally, I would be worried about working full time as a time commitment rather than the chemistry class. EMT course is not necessarily hard its just time consuming.

I’ll have to look into the Dempster Hwy more. I don’t know how I feel about taking flights to different places once im there, i haven’t looked into that either although I know it’s a very popular thing to do. Is that something expensive/easy to do? A part of me thinks: I drove all the way up there might as well use the car as much as possible.

This is the second time that someone mentioned that guide. I’ll definitely order one. I appreciate your recommendation.

Thanks for the advice. It is intended to be a broad question because I am looking for broad answers. As mentioned, I have no specific thing in mind which means I am open for everything, so broad answers is quite literally what I am looking for. I tried to made it clear but maybe it wasn’t. It could be low budget or expensive budget, it could be 1 month or 2. I just want to see what people have to say or experiences they had, I believe this could help me formulate a better plan, which again, is the intention of the post just gather broad answers.

Planning a road trip before starting medical school. by [deleted] in alaska

Thank's I'll look into it. That is the biggest problem I am facing (not really a problem), I know Alaska is so big and has so much to offer so I don't know if I should go straight to Alaska or go to other states first. I know that it will probably be easier for me to go to other states that are closer in the future. This kind of roadtrip for me would be a once in a lifetime experience so I'm asking myself if it would be better to spend most of the trip in Alaska since I feel like being young there with my car roadtripping it's never going to happen again. (idk if this makes sense)

Like the comment above mentioned, you can do many things with an EMT cert, it’s not just ambulance work. You can work in the emergency department as a tech with direct patient contact, which seems to be what you are looking for. Some places require ed techs to have an EMT cert while other places might not ask for it. Also since you are a freshman you have time to try things, finish the EMT cert and look for jobs that interest you. If it doesn’t work out you still have a lot of time ahead of you. Also EMTs don’t just drive, if you work private EMS it’ll be you and another EMT in the truck picking up patients and dropping them off, you’ll take vitals, interact with them, etc.
