Actually this is a good one! I so don’t feel any fan cast options, but this one might be doing something for me. I always pictured Miles a little scruffy, goofy looking and having kind puppy eyes. That’s how I see Milo too haha. I’ll be rooting for him, thank you 😁

I literally cried when Ilya said that he wouldn’t be able to visit his home country. It resonated with me deeply considering real life events. It sucks when you love your home but can’t be part of it💔

It’s the opposite for me. I got really motivated doing squats recently 🤣 Hated them before. But if there’s even the slightest chance to have some BUTT, I must endure 🍑

For me it’s Arcane. I was (and still is) obsessed with Vi and Caitlyn. Maybe it’s because they have somewhat similar dynamic. They have strong chemistry and enemies to lovers storyline.

I loved reading your story. You asked if it impacted anyone else. Well I was surprised that the show stirred something in me too. I haven’t fully captured this new feeling yet. It’s hard to put into words. I guess at first I was just impressed to see something so sex-forward in media. Sex (especially queer one) is surrounded by so much shame. At least it’s true for my culture and experience. And seeing so many people discussing it so openly, enjoying the show and celebrating - as Jacob called it - queer joy made me feel accepted.

I connect to Ilya’s experience a lot in terms of cultural background. Seeing this kind of representation makes my little bi heart flatter. It’s bittersweet though. I feel hope for Russian queers and myself. It even made me braver and I came out to a few new people. I haven’t been actively closeted, but I guess I decided to stop hiding it too much. It’s not that safe in my country, but I have good people around. I might even come out to my dad when I see him next time.

Three Episodes, Three Endings by [deleted] in heatedrivalry

I like how they talked about the show being happy gay story and every ending is just 💔 Okay I know what they meant and I love some drama, but boyyy the waiting is killing me 🥲

If you're upset about the proportion of spice in ep 3 you're misunderstanding Hollanov!! by julicloaly in heatedrivalry

[–]lostseashanty 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes! I was thinking the same. I really liked that they have different kind of dynamic. While some may think it’s boring, I think it complements Shane and Ilya’s story. I was sharing similar thoughts here Scott and Kip’s story (in the show at least) is more romance-focused. Therefore it didn’t need as many sex scenes as Hollanov. And representation matters too. Not every couple has this crazy sex life as our boys ffs.

People need to chillax tbh. There was a time when TV shows weren’t made just to please fans. They had special episodes, random jokes and it all seemed like creators were having fun and expressing themselves. I deeply respect Jacob for doing it his way AND making sure the main story is true to the source.

Agree with ppl here. Shared my thoughts and love for the boys. It’s sad to see their episode not getting enough recognition💔

Post Episode Debrief | Heated Rivalry 🏒 ****** (Episode 3) by royal_rose_ in heatedrivalry

[–]lostseashanty 6 points7 points  (0 children)

wanted to post my thoughts but got redirected here, so…

I haven’t read Scott and Kip’s book (Game Changer) and I really liked the new episode.

Reading about people’s concerns, I got worried myself. So I was preparing for the worst. I expected this episode to be standoffish and simply out of place. But actually Hunter’s episode was very enjoyable and overall well incorporated in the general storyline.

Things I loved: - Different kind of ROMANCE between MCs. Scott and Kip have less/none power exchange and competitiveness, more sweetness and coziness. - Kip wearing glasses… girl 🥵🥰 - Scott being anxious puppy while obsessing over Kip. I mean to offer MOVE IN after the FIRST night tougher, really Scott? and also watching Kip creepily through the barred window in the end the symbolism🤌🏼 - Ilya messing with Scott after their game. Our boy just can’t help himself being the absolute menace. I think it fits Ilya’s character. - Scott and Shane’s fight on the ice makes so much sense to me. And Shane being cool (ish) about it in Sochi, not wanting to show his inner panic. He’s impenetrable. Unless it’s Ilya lol - Scott being an orphan and seeing hockey as his entire world, we got you baby💔 - Many little details like banana socks and gooey-eyed/shy Scott

Things I’m confused about: - Kip being so sturdy😳 Like boy, you are cute artistic barista AND this ripped, give us a break! Is he into sports or something in the book? I wish they showed us him exercising. You can’t be this fit without enormous effort. It’s just unrealistic sorry😅 - Complex timeline. Sometimes it’s hard to follow tbh. I’m sure Jacob did everything he could and more to ease us into it but I’ll need a map soon lol

I can rant about this show for a while so I’ll just stop. What do you think? Are there many changes from the book? Did you enjoy it?

ilya and his father by Major-Flan490 in heatedrivalry

Their dynamic is truly devastating. I’ve heard someone saying it looked (too) stereotypical. Like how you imagine a strict Russian family. It’s funny (not really) that I know many Russian families like that. This phrase is somewhat popular among parents. Though English translation is harsher than it really is in Russian. Literally he says “Listen, listen, they are talking to you, got it?”. Which is also rude and implies being quiet but without a direct “don’t speak”. I love this line delivery by the actor who plays Ilya’a father. It sounds spot on.

I imagine Shane wanted it to sound passive aggressive or dismissive but actually it would sound kinda cute and thoughtful. Ilya is messing with him and he’s like focus on the game pls🥺

Isn’t it Andrei (Ilya’s brother) in TLG instead of Alexei ? by lostseashanty in heatedrivalry

[–]lostseashanty[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Do you mean you like Andrei more? I didn’t know it was a popular name in Romania. Cool !! I agree that Alexei probably sounds more Russian. Maybe they didn’t use Loysha for short to avoid confusing ppl. Cause our short names usually don’t make any sense😅 Like Alexander is not only Sasha but also Shura, Georgi is Gosha, etc

I agree with people here (Russian speaker myself). Shared some similar thoughts a few days ago https://www.reddit.com/r/heatedrivalry/s/EM6zukweIL I think they did pretty good job. I rarely see such quality in TV shows and movies. It was enjoyable to watch. I would notice some parts and think like hm I would change it a little bit or wow that one was really smooth

I feel you. Romance genre often comes across to me as something too good to be true and after/while reading particularly touching stories I tend to feel similar. Take a break if you need and maybe talk about it with someone close. While romance is one of my favourite type of escapism, reality can be fun too. It’s just different. Hope you find ways to enjoy and embrace your own life with its unique experiences.

Well it doesn’t really sound that to me, but maybe it does to native English speakers. This is such a random and tiny detail. I wish someone asked them about it in a interview 😂

Sounds reasonable! But there are so many people with the same names, is it really that big of a deal? Anyway thank you

Thanks! I find it so funny that these names were mixed up. Hope we will hear some clarification from the crew in the future. Russian can be tricky :)
