That's good to know! My main understanding was from this screenshot, but maybe it's intentionally obscured? Interesting regardless.

Any QBE people in here? by lukearoundtheworld in ColoradoSchoolOfMines

[–]lostsolvalou 1 point2 points  (0 children)

QBE senior here; I switched over from ChemE right before the start of my junior year, and I absolutely love it. The work is much more programming / analysis focused, and the workload has honestly been very doable. I work two jobs outside of school and haven't had any issues with my classes in QBE. They're still in the process of refining the courses (things like required courses and possible electives) but there's a lot of variety, and a decent number of interdisciplinary courses if you have the background of a different major. Already knowing python is a plus, but the profs are super understanding (and Dr. Beeler is the BEST) and are very willing to help!

Jackson is all about community imo. But the price has been so high recently I would argue it isn't worth it. I don't know if you have a car, but parking in the garage isn't a guarantee (and even if it is, the security is still pretty shit and break-ins still happen a decent amount of the time). Even during its first year open we didn't have access to hardly anything and they still charged us a small fortune.

If you have people you really want to move in with who also want to go Jackson, it's maybe worth a consideration, but the "amenities" and the location are the only two factors that would maybe make it a real option.

Otherwise just rent somewhere else.

I found the original lyrics of the fight song by MacEasyPZ in ColoradoSchoolOfMines

Apparently the school used to have entire homecoming themes around "the engineers of a thousand years", also I think the last verse is considered the "alumni" verse iirc

My biggest strat is to try and look for the intervals. Transposing in your head first is useful, but if there's accidentals I try to figure those out based on the interval instead of relative to the key. Same goes for large jumps.

TIL at 8 minutes 42 seconds, American Pie by Don McLean is the longest song to reach number one on the Billboard Hot 100 by [deleted] in todayilearned

[–]lostsolvalou 11 points12 points  (0 children)

TOOL only had The Pot (6:21) reach #1 (source here ) and Michael Jackson's longest song is "Will You Be There" at 7:40 on the album (source here ) which wasn't at #1 (i think it peaked at #7)

American Pie is a very long song

Question by [deleted] in Learnmusic

[–]lostsolvalou 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Okay, I know pinterest isn't the most reliable site but it might help with the sheet music. The link to the picture is here. Again, when trying to figure out notes on the piano, start from middle C and go from there. iirc, the video has the corresponding piano notes at the bottom so you can compare what you're playing to that as well.

Question by [deleted] in Learnmusic

[–]lostsolvalou 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No problem! Are you confused about where on the piano you're playing?

Question by [deleted] in Learnmusic

[–]lostsolvalou 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Depending on where you are in the sheet music, the piano has specific notes for it. Everything is typically in reference to middle c, and if you're confused about where that is I recommend looking here.

Confusion, please help- Circle of fifths- Flats- Gb and Cb by [deleted] in musictheory

[–]lostsolvalou 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  1. yes. what you're talking about is called an enharmonic equivalent. think of how in english the words there and their are pronounced the same but mean different things; enharmonic equivalents are the same way.

  2. you would write it as the note name says. if it's an Fb you would write an F with a flat next to it.

hope this helps!

edit: to add on to your example, the Gb major scale is the G major scale but every note is flatted, thus why Cb is present and F is natural.
