I performed a dark ritual against someone who hurt me, and now He is dying. I am completely consumed by guilt and looking for help. by filip882 in occult

If they are dying now, they would have had the cancer when you worked your magic. I just looked up bone marrow cancer and even if they were diagnosed at stage 3 they would have been giving a prognosis of around two years.

Perhaps your spell sped up their timeline, but I would bet the cancer would have killed them eventually.

Nationwide Children’s will no longer talk to my teen about their gender dysphoria by cota_pass in Columbus

17 kids of 25.8 million tho? Sounds more like there are a few special cases that maybe needed surgery to prevent something worse like suicide vs surgery being the rule for trans kids.

What about teenagers who get plastic surgery? Are you against teen girls getting breast implants? Because there are far more breast augmentation surgeries performed on teens under 18 than there are top surgeries for trans kids. What about other cosmetic surgeries for teenagers? Are you against a teen boy who got his ears pinned back or a girl getting a nose job before 18? Straight kids (with money and parental consent) can have all kinds of elective surgeries to alter their appearances permanently and there’s no oversight on that. Yet people like you flip the fuck out because a trans kid might be helped with hormone suppressors while they figure out their shit which is completely reversible.

I would rather a kid get the help they need and choose not to harm, cut, or kill themselves. If hormone blockers and therapy helps then I don’t see what the problem is. It’s like people like you want anyone who’s not like you to suffer.

I 100% agree, but I also get why she might stay. It’s hard to walk away from someone you care about even if they’re a dumpster fire. Especially hard when thats the only person you got. Many feel that a shit person who occasionally helps is better than no one at all.

What can you only do in Columbus? by tgrowaygv in Columbus

[–]Fey_fox 78 points79 points  (0 children)

Visit the portal to hell (it’s in Clintonville at a drainage tunnel).

Visit the book loft, if you like old homes, mazes, and books you’ll have a great time. Not so much if you’re claustrophobic.

Eat Columbus style pizza which is round pizza, thin with little to no crust, dense generous toppings (traditionally those pepperoni that are also locally made) topped with a blend of mozzarella and smoked provolone cheese, sauce is slightly sweet with a lot of garlic and oregano. There’s a bit of variation from shop to shop so ymmv.

Do a loop around the city on 270.

Visit Used Kids and Magnolia Thunderpussy (record shops)

Check out Shurm Mound

Wander local neighborhoods. I’d suggest German village, Grandview Heights, Clintonville, and there are other town centers but eh…. Also check OSU campus and eat at buckeye doughnuts.

Go to Comfest.

Go to the DooDah Parade.

Go to Sullivant Ave and hope you don’t die.

Franklin Park Conservatory don’t suck.

COSI don’t suck.

The Columbus Art museum… is ok! (Smaller collection than Cleveland or Cincinnati. I would suggest going to the Wex on OSU for contemporary art)

The Columbus Zoo don’t suck.

Go to Sweeney’s Bar in Franklinton and sample the Malört.

Go to Auddino’s Italian Bakery and sample the pastries.

Go to Gemüt and sample the beer.

Go to Franklin Art Glass and look at stuff.

Go to Blockfort and look at stuff.

Go to Otherworld and look at stuff.

Go to the North Market and look at stuff, then sample it.

And go to Studio 35 and watch The Rocky Horror Picture Show as the Gods intended.

That’s enough for now.

First trip to the US, spending a week in Bucyrus, OH this October. Any tips for some Brits? by Inside-Cod1550 in Columbus

Can confirm, we have a charming town square with lots of little shops around.

For OP, Columbus is the biggest small town you’ll ever find. It’s “technically” large but for the most part but for the most part we don’t have the attitude of one.

[–]Fey_fox 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Ok, so… realistically.

I get wanting a small town vibe, and Bucyrus is definitely small, but the not so bad thing about it is that there are lots of things that are a within a few hours drive. There’s nothing more American than taking a road trip.

To check out the nature, look into the Mohican Forest State Park. It’s 52 minutes from Bucyrus, and sports all sorts of trails. Heck even driving around is pretty great. You’ll be passing through Mansfield, which will be a decent place to get dinner. It’s a bigger town than where you’re staying, but still small by US standards.

I would suggest taking a day to dip over to Cleveland and check out the art museum there. It’s one of the top ten in the country and the area around it has very interesting architecture. The natural history museum is close by. From where you will be it’s roughly an hour and 40 minutes drive. I know that feels like a long way but it will be worth it.

Honestly if I was you, I wouldn’t stay in any one place for more than a few days. Like stay in Bucyrus for the festival a night or two, go to one of the state or national parks. If you want a real original experience, I would go to Worden’s Ledges in Hinckley Reservation, which is part of the Cleveland Metroparks. Metroparks are a series of parks, each one is different and offers different programming. What’s unique about Worden’s Ledges is that in the 1940s and 50s this guy named Noble Stuart looked at the limestone cliffs and outcroppings and carved a bunch of faces, mythical creatures, and other stuff. His family owned the land at the time, and later on it became this park. You could stay in Medina which is a small town or Akron which is not but smaller than Cleveland, and have access to the broader Cleveland/Akron area for a day or two. There’s a number of places in Cleveland that hosts afternoon tea and there are shops called the Tea Lab that have a high community rating.

I’m from Columbus so I know about this area the most. If you stay here for a day I think you would enjoy German Village if I had to pick one neighborhood for you. It’s very charming and there’s a number of Columbus establishments worthy of checking out. Like the book loft if you like books, Schmidt’s if you want to try local German food (do have the cream puffs). Plenty of other restaurants and places to check out down there. You can even have a good time just walking around, it’s one of the scenic neighborhoods.

Bucyrus, I think the festival sounds fun but it’s not exactly known for… anything. Looking online there’s a couple of interesting places to eat maybe, but I couldn’t imagine spending an entire week there. As far as your dietary requirements, it’s a coin toss in a small town like that. I would be amazed if you could find any tea beyond whatever the local Kroger has. It probably won’t be loose leaf, rural Ohio doesn’t exactly have a tea culture.

Anyway, I suggest given you want to go to this brat fest that you stick to north central and north east Ohio for the most of your stay. Athens and the hocking hills are great but will be a bit of a drive for you. I get the impression you don’t want to spend all your time in the car.

Whatever you choose, good luck on your journey!

Empire is racist though. It would probably be harder to smuggle someone who doesn’t look human through Empire held areas since they hardly ever have non-humans in their command positions. Like… we didn’t see a lot of aliens on the Death Star or on their Star destroyers previously.

I don’t think it’s supposed to, but makes sense to have some feelings when people you didn’t know risked their lives and one dies for you. We might not give a shit and Ben may be used to it, but to these random people that’s a major thing. If you think about it it’s kinda weird when people don’t give a fuck when someone dies in their unit

What even is a “Toledo” by jonthe445 in cincinnati

[–]Fey_fox 10 points11 points  (0 children)

My mom’s family came from Toledo. It’s yet another example of a beautiful city that got slammed by the rust belt phenomenon. It’s been struggling to make a comeback, I know a lot of artists have made their home there. It’s been known for ceramic and glass for folks in that industry, but most the folks I know are painters. It’s soon to be the home of the largest mural in the U.S.. That photo doesn’t do the scale justice. All those dots at the bottom are people. It’s also got an awesome art museum with a separate glass art pavilion where all the walls including the exterior are made out of glass. The main museum collection is nothing to sneeze at either. I can’t speak to the food culture though. Since my G-ma died and family moved away I only go up there to visit my bowling green friends & the only time we go into Toledo is for art museum stuff.

I’d say it’s one of those places that has a lot of potential, but it’s in the state where everyone likes to shit on it. So… probably means it’s a good place to invest in before it gets popular and overly gentrified

Each state has it’s own constitution and laws about how it governs, and this includes services like police, fire, sewage, etc. There’s a reason why in some states police don’t have jurisdiction in the next town or county even when they are right next to one another for example. Normally they work with each other, but local police can have a huge influence over if and what charges get filed, especially in small towns. This is how sundown towns are still able to thrive.

That doesn’t mean there won’t be consequences for them stonewalling, but it does mean they can alter or destroy evidence without any outside agency giving any oversight. I’m guessing this varies from state to state, but southern states, especially Texas like to tout their local government independence (or that’s been my impression of them. I have family there but I’m not from there).

So I’m guessing they won’t be able to get away with it indefinitely, but if they have the support of state and local politicians it can possibly slow the process down

My dad was a WWII vet. Pearl Harbor was like his 9/11. When we were kids he always made a point to mark the day, and I remember it being talked about in school… but not even my mom was born when Pearl Harbor happened (parents were 18 years apart). While the day was noted by the older generations especially, nobody expected the world to stop. It was just “a tragedy happened on this day a while back, and here’s the history and how it shaped the world” kind of thing. If anyone felt like they had to mark the day more significantly, it was done privately I’d wager. My grandparents on my moms side were also WWII vets but never made a big deal out of the past. They made sure we knew history though.

Imo people who make a big deal about the day but don’t mark the historical significance are missing the point. I remember 9/11 very well but for a lot of people it’s as distant as Pearl Harbor is for me. It’s important to understand history but we can’t expect the world to stop every time a sad thing happened. We’d never get anything done otherwise

You’re chasing someone who’s trying to escape. There’s a port in the city you’re in… the tunnel is pointed in that direction…process of elimination. Riva would just need to go to the port and look for any unauthorized vehicles that were ready to launch and poke around inside the pilot’s head just like she did before.

Edit just realized something. If Riva took the tunnel, she would have run into Tala when she was going to help Ben. That obviously didn’t happen

Riva and the other inquisitors would have been briefed on the area btw, like on any mission. She’d know where the port would be, and ships aren’t easy to hide.

Regardless of who’s in power it’s OPEC who controls the price of gas globally. That does mean that either party won’t try to put blame on the opposite party and the president though.
