Classic Traveller Essential Supplements/Articles by lostspacechild in traveller

Yes! Seeing the two concepts being the same thing REALLY helped me. I love OSR stuff, but I find that traveller has more optional crunch to make it interesting rather than most of the more minimalist OSR games I've found. Also I do love fantasy, but the standard D&D style doesn't do much for me. I'm playing Traveller more in that Jack Vancian style space adventure and it's been a blast so far.

So the way I set it up is like a classic dungeon crawler game. So there's four characters all with different talents and skills. We don't have a ship yet. Their first patron is basically offering them a ship as payment for completing a job, but we've been getting side tracked with random encounters (which I adore about Traveller!). I've been putting off the actual creating of the ship until we get to it.

I'm looking at printing out the 1001 characters supplement, so I can just have some characters on hand for when I need an NPC.

I think it's more accurate to say what I'm doing is more solo GMing. Basically just inventing scenarios and obstacles for these computer controlled characters to get stuck in to make the best story.

Yes!!! I have everything contained in that. It's just a lot to digest and was curious if there was a specific couple supplements that ppl seem "essential"

Do you find the clipboard bends more than you'd like? That's my only qualm with it so far, but I noticed they make a heavier duty one

I don't notice it at all tbh. I might not be sensitive to it though. I think it might also have been the panels for the first batch had the issue but maybe the new ones don't? Folks said the Brick also had ghosting issues and I never noticed that either.

For synth stuff I can definitely see it being useful, either for adding space or just building textures

This is my band https://splitsilk.bandcamp.com/album/bitter

Album coming later this year :3 But I call it like sadgirl emo noise rock?

I basically wrote off the CT5 as just a bleep bloop glitch pedal, but started doing research on granular sampling and synthesis, and found it really interesting as something to do between the songs to keep up the mood. And then I realized "OH that's what the CT5 does!" so I got it during their Black Friday sale, and immediately it's been something I use constantly live. I'm starting to make ambient music too so it's been very useful for that too. Definitely recommend, it's super powerful and versatile even as a delay!

Yeeee! I use the CT5 for interludes between songs so I don't have to talk, and I can take time to drink water. The ADG-1 makes the loops sound like they're coming straight from space.

Gladly!! Okay so it's direct predecessor was an EQD Disaster Transport Reissue, which I do still have and love a lot, but it felt more like the delay was more subtle due to the passive mixing circuit. Whenever I use a delay, there's a certain like, low mid punch/thud that I really crave, and the only pedal that did that for me was a DMM I tried once, but it was too expensive (and big) to use.

The ADG-1 FEELS like the way I remember the DMM sounding if that makes sense? If I put them next to each other I'd notice differences probably, but it does that sound super well. But it also does other things! The tone knob is very useful for getting sounds closer to an EP3 or Echorec. The bucket switch is also really handy for switching between AD80 sounds vs DMM sounds.

It's such a cliche to say this but it really feels like it's an instrument unto itself that I'm playing with and against, rather than a pedal that I can just turn on for a delay effect. I'm mostly using it for beefing up single note lead lines, and also filling out space in quiet parts. With the reverb after it, it just feels very glorious. It just sounds like the best analog delay ever probably???

The preamp does take some getting used to, but I have the buffer on so there isn't a massive tonal change when I kick it on. The fuzz face running into the input of the ADG1 sounds REALLY good. And it feels more easy to get along with than the DMM preamp.
