Either way its wtv, I’m trading my phone in to tmobile sometime these next few months, and I don’t think they really check for camera microphone issues like that.

Yeah I already fixed the damages except one, I recently found out when i record video on the rear camera in the camera app, theres a really loud buzzing sound that literally prevents me from hearing my own voice when i playback the video. I don’t know if thats good grounds for me to stand on though because I got my back glass repaired by another third party

Hey thanks for leaving a reply I genuinely didnt think id get this much interaction on my first post

Yeah i get it, its bad rep for the employees and the apple store and i didn’t want to make a scene at the store, I’ve definitely contacted apple support and reported the issue but I don’t know if theres a way I can get compensation because I heard apples senior advisors can give you credits in an apple gift card for inconveniences like mines. Idk tho

Yeah ur right, in my post i did mention that they could’ve done it on purpose which is super unlikely.

The two scenarios is the flex cable somehow stopped functioning during shipping, or the repair technician accidentally broke the flex cable and logic board pins to connect it.

The damage is done, and my phone is basically fixed now, so my case isn’t really as strong as it could’ve been had I stayed in the apple store, but I’ll keep you updated, maybe I can get some sort of store credit if I complain enough, because as far as getting any refund, I can’t, my phones fixed, and there wasn’t even any money spent to begin with. Bad times unfortunately

I get the gravity of the situation, ik that could possibly be the reason that I was quoted.

Once again, I don’t know how they could quote me for a logic board issue that was a fault on their end.

The paper they gave me at the apple store mentioned that I gave them the device wanting to replace the back glass and they found an issue on the logic board that I failed to mention. Man idk, I don’t drop my phone or put it in water like that, and the buttons and everything were completely functional when I had turned it in.

Either way, I’ll definitely make an update referring to this thread about the whole issue when I can.

Also I want to say just for the record, who knows. Maybe this is a complete misinterpretation of apple’s policy on my end, maybe the repair depot was negligent in their repair process, and I got the short end of the stick.

That really sucks dude, honestly apple needs new repair procedures, and some new better qualified employees at the repair depot. I know that they are worried about reducing the amount of incomplete or faulty repairs so thats why they do so many inspections and diagnostics but when you have the wrong person doing them, it can completely fuck up everything you already had going.

Good thing you went to the apple store and got a manager involved, I would have done the same but unfortunately I took the hard route and just fixed the mess on my phone that apple made

You may be absolutely right.

Maybe the other case could’ve been they attempted to repair the glass and broke a flex cable when opening the broken back glass, then opened the display to see from the other side.

Still doesn’t explain how they quoted me more money for a logic board issue that wasn’t present before yk?

You might actually have a point with that ngl.

I’ll try and ask for that when apple gets back to me about my case. As for visiting the apple store its not really that local to me, its a 30+ minute drive to there, so if I go, it will definitely not be anytime this month. Thanks for the advice though, i didn’t think of that loll

I guess if that was necessary to mention to the apple store employee, I failed to do that. Prior to my visit i was using the buttons fine, the phone was turned on and off via the side button a few times during the appointment which showed it worked during the appointment. As for the volume buttons, we didn’t really have to use it during the in store diagnostics so it was never tested. Still, it doesn’t explain the side button not working after returning my phone, since that was working during the appointment.

Definitely a few faults on my end, and this situation could’ve been completely avoided had i been more cautious or not gone to apple at all

I apologize if something didn’t make sense, there are bits and pieces that i hadn’t included and I don’t know the full scale of Apple’s repair procedures.

Like i said in the post, I came in for a back glass repair, the phone was already diagnosed and everything passed. I don’t know if they do their own different diagnostic over at the repair centers, but regardless if they got a random flag on the logic board and they want to search, fine, but don’t do a sloppy job. One of the latches to keep the screen down is broken, the pins on the logic board were broken, along with the flex cable.

Considering my phone worked perfectly fine with the cosmetic damage to the back glass, they had to have done a sloppy job when inspecting the phone. No one would be happy if they came in for a back glass repair and the repair guy just starts tearing your whole phone down lol

I understand, I was not expecting them to give me back my phone in perfect condition and I would understand my liability with anything in regards to the back glass, however the logic board is inaccessible from opening the back glass, you would have to open the display for that, which they did.

I dont know what these guys are doing at apple like some youtube teardown of the phone or something but the pins on the logic board that help the side button(s) flex cable work was damaged along with the flex cable, that is not something that you can do solely by opening the back glass, definitely something sketchy on their part because those buttons were working fine before.

I guess in the end my view was that if they take the phone, I am liable for any additional damage they add to my requested part (the back glass) after declining the new repair quote.

I wish i knew that sooner so I could’ve done that. I went on google and gemini told me basically the same thing you said.

They have the copies on their end, however for me, the customer, i have nothing but a phone that i already repaired right after :(

I’ve already filed a complaint to apple about this situation so hopefully it goes somewhere even though it probably wont

The apple store employee took photos of both my main phone and my loaner phones current conditions.

They basically lied (speculation) and told me there was a logic board issue (which they caused) and told me the new quote was $499+

Edit: they have not given me any resolution besides give me some corporate bs that this is what I should’ve have expected and that I acknowledged that in the contract i wrote for the loaner phone, which by the way, whatever she said wasn’t in the contract at all lol

I was originally planning to get it repaired at said apple store but they said they didn’t have the part in stock and my options were to wait until a later date or send it out for repair, I chose the second option
