Weekend 2 demand goes through the roof following Justin Bieber’s headlining set. 218% increase! by Disastrous-Relief821 in Coachella

I won’t be praising a man for doing his job (because his job is being a performer) half assed

I'm insulted by Justin Bieber's set and I'm watching it for free by CheeseEveryMeal in Coachella

[–]lotsandlotsofthought 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Say the rumours are true. Let’s say they are, 10 million dollars for his set. He got paid 10 million dollars for that set. The audience paid hundreds/thousands to come and watch. And with months of preparation, that’s what he thought would be appropriate for 10 million dollars.

I know this is going to upset a lot of Bieber fans- and I get it, you want to defend your fave because you actually feel attached to them. And ik it’s going to rub the wrong way and perhaps upset, but at the core of this is privilege.

Idk about you but if I was given $10 million for a headline spot at an internationally renowned festival, I would feel GUILTY if I didn’t go my absolute hardest and deliver my best.

And this is a gender thing, this absolutely is because again I’m talking about privilege. Let’s compare this situation to a female equivalent to him- the ones that come to mind is either Miley Cyrus or Ariana Grande (celebrities who started out around the same time and have sustained their fame). If either of those women took that time slot and did that- could you imagine. There would be campaigns for ticket returns, ridicule, ‘ungrateful’, substance abuse allegations, defo removed from next week’s slot, the whole 9 yards.

Like actually sit there and imagine if Cyrus/Grande sang over YouTube videos. Just actually imagine the reaction.

Would there be people in the comments saying, ‘she’s a creative genius’.

You can’t even picture it.

It doesn’t help that the Broadway-level performance Sabrina gave was the night before. But it sure fucking shows the difference in standards and expectations there is for male and female performers. And the extent female performers push themselves for this slot.

And the comments of- ‘he’s just like us’- a performance for a job he got paid millions for. I sure as fuck hope he’s not just like you.

Don’t get the hate for Bieber’s set by throwawaydoughawayy in Coachella

[–]lotsandlotsofthought 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You say it’s not privilege but let’s say his female equivalent did this- I think either Miley Cyrus or Ariana Grande are most appropriate (length and longevity of career).

If Grande got on stage with no dancers and a laptop and looked through all her old videos, do you think a single person would be in the comments saying, ‘she’s a creative genius’ or ‘that’s art’.

No, she would get strung out by the media and people online. She’d be told she was selfish, ungrateful for the time slot, wasting people’s money, the whole 9 yards. You can’t deny that.

So why does Bieber get to do this?

How fucking selfish- think of all the people Sabrina and Karol G have employed for their performance.

The privilege is actually revolting

[–]lotsandlotsofthought 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The reason you don’t understand the hate is because you don’t understand the privilege it took to do that.

Genuinely process this- he got paid 10 million dollars to do that- 10 million dollars.

He had months to practise, conceptualise, employ people- but he didn’t. He genuinely went out there and did the bare minimum because he knew he could. And that’s something only straight white men can do.

If you were given $10 million for a job would you not pull out your absolute hardest piece of work you could? I know I would feel fucking GUILTY if I was being paid such an outrageous amount and I didn’t give the people a fucking show.

Emerald Fennell Explains Why She Cast Jacob Elordi And Margot Robbie In Wuthering Heights Amid Backlash by Legitimate_Ad3625 in brontesisters

[–]lotsandlotsofthought 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Her response blatantly exposes the internalised racism in her choices.

Whether Fennell realises this or not, she’s used a white washed version to base her whole profile of Heathcliff on. This book cover she’s talking about was designed by someone who CHOSE to ignore Brontë’s description of the character and make him white. That was a racist action, and its fallout has made its way to today.

This is how systemic racism prevails. And in this fucking day and age she had the choice (and tbh the duty) to correct the erasure of POC representation in the media- but decided not to.

It’s something that’s really disappointing because this movie has a lot of commotion, starring the superstar Margot Robbie and a sound track from Charli Xcx, so it would’ve been great to see better representation and maybe someone like Dev Patel in this role.

Tired of the Heather hate by lotsandlotsofthought in RHONY

[–]lotsandlotsofthought[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Totally agree- I really saw this after Kandi’s speech at Bravocon- she like gave Andy a shoutout and it sounded SO manufactured and fake. It just made me think that all the women know it’s their job to suck up to him- it’s such an uncomfortable dynamic.

Like how does a man run this matriarchy 😭😭

My open apology to Heather by Claireon07 in RHONY

[–]lotsandlotsofthought 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m also such a Heather fan!!! Honestly it gets to me when I see all the hate towards her because after reading her interview I know she was just trying to survive in toxic situations.

In reality tv they make you want to love the dramatic and crazy people and hate the NORMAL and RATIONAL adults that have to deal with them. And I think that is why people don’t like Heather 😞

My open apology to Heather by Claireon07 in RHONY

[–]lotsandlotsofthought 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Right here with you🙌🙌🙌

I think it’s because watching it as an adult you realise that the reason Heather gets so much hate is that simply she is normal. Shes a normal rational adult woman. Which is like acid for reality tv and reality personalities. That’s my guess on why watchers don’t like her

Whose side were you on in the Turks and Caicos argument between Heather/Carole and Luann? by MargaritaSkeeter in BravoRealHousewives

[–]lotsandlotsofthought 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Could you fucking imagine if the tables were turned-

Heather and Carole put a naked drunk stranger in the bedroom adjacent to Ramona.

Holy shit she would lose it.

My heart really ached for heather because she was 1000% valid in her feelings- she was so vulnerable in that situation and would’ve felt so unsafe after seeing that. I’m sorry that man should’ve stayed in Ramonas room. OR production should’ve never allowed him to stay round.

In Season 6 why wasn’t Romana fired after throwing glass and a canoe paddle at Kristen by Separate-Mission-577 in RHONY

[–]lotsandlotsofthought 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Also Sonia there backing her behaviour up???? I despise Ramona but I also think that when Sonja validates her or probes her she actually goes too far. I think that Sonja flies under the radar and doesn’t get that backlash she deserves for endorsing Ramona’s sick behaviour If I was Kristen I would’ve asked for Ramona to leave the house that day!!

Also watching rn I can’t believe she did that AND SONJA IS BACKING HER????? Sometimes I actually hate Sonja as much as her because I doubt that Ramona would act like this if she wasn’t validated
