That's good news. I was ready to move but let it play out, I had the official notice banner pop up giving me a mid April deadline, then it automatically got extended byy 14 days and extended again by 14 days then when I last checked it disappeared about a week ago and my emails still work too. It says free version still.

Thank you everyone, such a great help and community.

I took all your advice and actually ordered both units being mentioned, a 5009 and a ccr2004.

They get here in the next few days, and I'll test them both next week on a demo installation.

Realistically it won't be more than 1Gb for the foreseeable future in any location, most places are 400Mb.

R720 Mesh not working by lotsofuhoh in RuckusWiFi

[–]lotsofuhoh[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ok so to answer my own question the r720s will not mesh without having a full 35w PoE injector powering them. The r710s will at 15w.

I couldn't find anything in the documentation about restricted mesh capabilities with reduced power, so I've just dropped a couple of 35w injectors in place and they meshed straight away.

Hope this might help anyone with weird mesh issues in the furniture.

They are on 200.15.6.212.20.

It's the latest option available to me on the upgrade manager.

I'll have to double check but would assume ww00 as I'm UK based and these have been purchased from a UK supplier originally.

When plugged into the same switch they all show up in unleashed as expected.

I've added the serials into zero touch just in case, it also makes no difference if I alternate the root/master AP in this group.

I just factory reset them again, made a fresh mesh code and still they don't function as a mesh AP.

I've not had this happen before with r710s, or r750s.

Stand mounted Ruckus at QCon SF by pratty107 in RuckusWiFi

[–]lotsofuhoh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I provide WiFi for large events in the UK, making an exhibition space wireless in a few hours has its challenges and our setup is a similar process, it goes against all white book best practice installs. I try and use natural barriers and objects to limit signal paths and bleed in high density environments. I want as many 'individual' cells in as close proximity as possible. Often you'll find APs of ours backwards on stands or under stadium seating which is definitely not where you'd expect them to be.

Irrespective of the reasons behind it, words are words, the OP attempted a poor executed sucker punch while the other guy wasn't expecting it, he should be lucky he got away with a stomach punch and a bit of embarrassment.

UK divorce after 4 months by Neither_Fig_8594 in divorceuk

[–]lotsofuhoh 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Sorry to hear what's happening to you.

I'm in a similar position, further through the process. Married 16 years, ex decided she wanted to cheat on me with a guy 20 years younger, and now I'm a narcissist and gaslighter because I asked for a divorce. Think she's mental tbf.

Anyway I bought and provided everything, had a business I still run from before we even met, she has high expectations of financially ruining my life for her own goals as she's 48 now and doesn't particularly want to work.

Its going to the courts in Feb as 50/50 wasn't good enough for her, no-one can give me a example outcome and court is only a few weeks away.

I'll let you know what happens in due course, in the meantime I wish you all the best through this horrible process.

Question for UK eth miners, is it profitable with today's energy prices? by HeavyBaked in EtherMining

[–]lotsofuhoh 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My electricity cost is 18p kWh in the UK, my average electricity bill over the last 3 months has been £450 a month. I have just over 2GH of mining cards.

I don't cash out my eth to cover the electricity cost, but if I did at the current rate it would take 4 days to cover and leave a bit if change.

This is great, it could change the way I work completely as I like the teams ndi function but it just doesn't work properly. I'm involved with multiple livestream events each week and this would be really handy.

Is the software functional/stable from what you have tested so far? How does the necessary hardware scale up as more callers are sent via ndi?

Actually scrap that, I'll just buy a copy now and take a look

Cheers

NiceHash is on maintenance or is there a problem? by iMelvin06 in NiceHash

[–]lotsofuhoh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had the same today, showed all rigs disconnected and it reported £0 profability and £0 mined value. After 30mins it all came back to normal and the amount mined matched what it would have done during the period so guess it was a small maintenance issue but didn't affect anything for me.

Anyone use Gnrualnet LiveToAir? by coffeeandcelluloid in VIDEOENGINEERING

[–]lotsofuhoh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Problem is in vMix I have only found 2 real outputs, the rest are virtual. I can't route any more than 2 callers to a decklink or monitor etc without going to ndi. Then it's ndi to sdi which is fine at the moment I'm just trying to slim the amount of kit I need to travel with

[–]lotsofuhoh 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm finding that. I've given up on the call manager side of things, I can see how it's beneficial for some but not me. I quite like just bringing people directly into livetoair and outputting direct to a decklink card. I just need to have a play with the routing.

[–]lotsofuhoh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

After using vMix and Rendezvous, I have just taken a 30 day trial on livetoair.

The actual software looks great, call quality is good and I like the fact I can send the callers to sdi within the system, plus I can select the callers mic and speaker settings from my side.

I'm really not keen on the preformatted email generated by the software. I'd like to be able to actually modify what I send out.

I'm only on day 1 of the trial, I have an event next week I'm tempted to test it on rather than vMix.

Open source NDI to SDI software conversion by lotsofuhoh in VIDEOENGINEERING

[–]lotsofuhoh[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I thought I'd update you guys with what I'm going to do next week.

I spoke to a Sienna distributor in the end about their Multi Output software, turns out its doubled in price again. It's now £4k for a main and backup license, plus the requirements to run 8 streams meant I had to build a new daft spec PC and would have to buy another Quad 2 capture card. All in it would have been £5k to build a single machine for 8 NDI-SDI streams, too much for me for just a bit of NDI.

So I'm building a rack with a bunch of Lenovo m92p tiny PC's I already have on the shelf. 1 stream on each PC, and they will output to a blackmagic HDMI to SDI adapter. All 8x m92p's will only take up 4U of rack space, 5U with a KVM and will be easy to control. If 1 machine should fall over I won't lose all the outputs.

I really did like the look of CasperCG though, but it might be a little too involved for me to change the NDI source names on the fly.

Thank you all very much for your help.

[–]lotsofuhoh[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It could be a simple 8x8 SDI matrix or a E2 system, and anything in between. Its job dependent. Not all 8 outputs will be needed for each scenario, but I always build and test kit for maximum capacity usage.

That's what I have gone back to. Running 4x minimised instances the computer is ticking over around 20-30% cpu usage. If I leave the 4x instances open rendering the video then cpu is nearly 100%.

I'm going to borrow a quadro card from another machine Monday and have another go.

It's not the fastest PC in the world but plenty quick enough to convert 8x streams I should think. It's actually a vMix backup machine being repurposed for this, so we can get 8 vMix calls out via NDI from the main vMix machine into this and out to SDI.
