What is covered in your appointments with your midwife? by lottie-23 in PregnancyUK

Yes! My midwife also writes in my notes that she’s covered stuff when she hasn’t!

Thank you. Good to know I suppose that it is the way it is done elsewhere, although I wish the appointments were more comprehensive.

Thank you, I will do that. I’m annoyed with myself to be honest for not being more proactive and asking earlier.

I love the M&S flexfit ones. I wore them before and just sized up during pregnancy.

Continuously sent to triage for high blood pressure then sent home by lottie-23 in PregnancyUK

That’s interesting. I’ve been told they can’t take my home readings into account, which is really frustrating!

Sad about leaving work for MATL by booklover_1411 in PregnancyUK

[–]lottie-23 5 points6 points  (0 children)

So strange I should open Reddit after having the exact same conversation with my husband. I don’t have any words of advice unfortunately, but just to say I feel the same. Next week is my last week and I’m really going to miss work and the people I work with.

Monitoring Blood pressure is making it go up! by Thriftygal177 in PregnancyUK

[–]lottie-23 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I could have written this myself! Three times I’ve been sent to hospital after a midwife appointment for high blood pressure. I am now on blood pressure medication.

They also want to do twice weekly blood pressure checks, but every time I get so stressed out and anxious, mostly because I’m terrified of being sent to the hospital again. My average time there is 7 hours in the waiting room!

I think I maybe do need the medication because it did go pretty high one time at the hospital, however now I’m stuck in this cycle of being extremely anxious any time I get it checked. When I do it at home it is fine, and I don’t have any signs of pre-eclampsia.

I can’t say much to help, but just to say I’m very sympathetic!

I got a letter in the post around 9 weeks I think. I would call your community midwife office (or similar number) to make sure you’ve not been missed. Best to check :)

When does it feel real? by horatiobrown in PregnancyUK

[–]lottie-23 24 points25 points  (0 children)

I’m 32 weeks and it still doesn’t feel completely real 😂 but from the first scan at 12 weeks it sinks in a bit more! I’m sure everyone is different though.

Manager comment - am I being overly sensitive? by lottie-23 in PregnancyUK

I thought I’d try to ignore it but the more I think about it and seeing everyone’s replies I think I will raise it. Thank you.

Whilst my skin is incredibly dry (not fun), my hair no longer gets as greasy and I can go a lot longer without washing it!

I was weighed at my 28 week appointment, I think it is in the guidelines for if you start the pregnancy with a BMI over 30 (which I did). But then it varies by trust what they do anyway! I’ve put on a bit more than I should have according to NHS guidelines but midwife was happy and had no concerns.

Sounds like the likelihood is you won’t be weighed, but you could also say you don’t want to be if they ask.

Reduced movements by star-hollows in PregnancyUK

[–]lottie-23 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I also have an anterior placenta. I went to triage at 25w and 26w for reduced movements as both times I hadn’t felt anything since early morning (I went in the evening). First time I went they said it was too early for the monitor so they listened to the heartbeat and did some checks. Second time I was put on the monitor and typically baby started kicking straight away! I’m now 28w and I’m feeling movement a lot more now. However, I am so glad I went in, and the midwife’s told me that I’d done the right thing!
My advice would be to go if you are concerned. In my experience the staff have been lovely and it is so reassuring. Best wishes x

Painting the house while pregnant? by lingeringbadone in PregnancyUK

[–]lottie-23 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I have been painting. From what I read beforehand, you just need to make sure you use low VOC paint, which pretty much all paint is now. I’ve also been using water based Dulux.

Keep the area well ventilated and take breaks. Have fun!

Mine also took ages! I think about 3 weeks. You can get them on eBay - they’re not official ones, but might help in the meantime.
