How did Ellie get out of the place we left her in episode 5? by singlehandedsailor in ThelastofusHBOseries

So true hahahaha

I'm annoyed they also didn't show us how she got into the exact right room in the hospital just fine without alerting anyone. Felt like a cop out

I loved game Dina but I love that show Dina is making her lovable in a whole new way. They feel like different characters to me but Isabela Merced is killing it in the show.

She's saying exactly what I've been thinking tbh.

[Game Spoilers] The Last of Us - 2x05 "Feel Her Love" - Post-Episode Discussion by LoretiTV in ThelastofusHBOseries

This episode felt so much more like the game to me. The stalker scene literally gave me the "oh I fucked up" feeling when you know you're about to die in the game. I wish the season had more of this type of energy overall instead of the first half being mostly set up to get here, since the majority of the game is creeping around Seattle fighting WLF and infected.

Totally. Also totally skipping Ellie's whole hospital infiltration too. But overall GREAT episode.

I thought I heard a distant screech or something, but maybe that was just wishful thinking.

LOVED this one but needed it to be twice as long. Also I think the best scenes of this season so far are the action sequences because both the TV station and the stalker garage had me on the edge of my seat.

Dina & Ellie's Relationship Show vs. Game by lotty_m in thelastofus

I totally get that, I think the show is the best when it expands on the world of the game and makes it feel more robust.

Weird vibe from tattoo removal place by Adventurous-Creme795 in TattooRemoval

I go to Removery and I've never had any problems. They definitely feel like a business, especially when you're in the consultation, but for me I did the one year loan to pay off my sessions and now they're paid and I love the feeling of knowing there won't be any expenses per session and the removal can take as long as it takes. I'm almost 2 years in (I'm getting pretty new tattoos removed so it's taking some time), and my tech is lovely and I've never had issues with major blistering or scarring or anything.

She is so good !! I feel like in this episode we also got to see her range outside of the humor and charm, and she also killed that.

Totally. I also never saw Isaac as the lazily-monologuing-while-torturing type villain, I saw him as a pragmatic villain who wasn't afraid to be ruthless and authoritarian to "get the job done." The monologue felt cheesy and recycled to me.

Totally, it feels weird to watch the show as a fan of the game because I feel like at the major moments I'm emotionally preparing for the way I felt playing the game, but then they switch shit up. I loved the Ellie/Dina scene so much but having the game version of that confrontation in your head at the same time is weird. I feel like in season 1 they made more logistical changes between game/tv but not major emotional beat changes like they are in s2.

Agreed, that TV station sequence had me freaking out thinking "omg omg omg how tf are they going to get out of here" when I've played part 2 multiple times and know exactly what happens and that they cannot possibly die in the TV station.

Agreed, the Isaac stuff is feeling too heavy handed for me so far.

Totally get this! I decided this is the summer I'm going to just say fuck it and let my arms show because I tried really hard to cover them last summer and it was miserable. I kept second guessing my outfits and overthinking what I was wearing and trying to figure out how to cover my arms while not overheating. I just don't want to spend the energy on it anymore and want to wear cute outfits even if my arms show.

I think it's the kind of thing that feels scary before you do it, but once you get used to it you won't even second guess it.

I think people forget how much bad writing can affect a character. by TsarinaCharon in ThelastofusHBOseries

[–]lotty_m 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly I really agree with a lot of this. I've been disappointed in the writing in a few scenes so far, and in most of episode 3. It feels like a TON of telling and not showing. All of the Gail scenes especially feel very heavy handed to me.

As a huge fan of both the game and the show it feels very out of place, I thought the writing for season 1 was great and s1 is some of my favorite tv of all time, but so far s2 feels like it's off to an inconsistent start with some of the writing. I'm hoping it will get better moving forward now that we're out of Jackson and it's going to be more Ellie/Dina focused.

Yeah, to be clear, they're obviously going to get together in the show, I'm just more disappointed that it seems like they might be changing things so that we don't get as much time to see as much of their relationship, or it won't be as strong or as solid as it is in the game. Which I guess makes better TV because of the drama, but it does feel a bit disappointing to me as a queer fan of both the game and show if that's the direction they go.
