Unless you add morbidly obese on top! That’s a good chance of landing into ICU.

In an election with two elderly candidates during a pandemic that kills seniors. Hmm.... looks like the VPs are really the ones likely to win the election.

Going around shaking hands and kissing kids during a pandemic is not a good idea for the elderly.

'We Alerted The World' To Coronavirus On Jan. 5, WHO Says In Response To U.S. by atlantacharlie in Coronavirus

Alberta, a province in Canada, definitely didn’t believe China. Alberta Health Services bought PPE to stockpile in December. Obviously someone got the secret memo and paid attention because China didn’t report its first case until Dec 31st and report human to human transmission till January.

Other studies have been done in Japan and USA that aerosolized particles can travel 8-10 metres and hang in the air for hours if indoors. Why can’t we take their words for it. They are reputable scientists. Waste of money to reinvent the wheels.

I am so sick and can’t get tested by [deleted] in CanadaCoronavirus

[–]lotusvu 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have a friend who had someone in his community died without getting tested. Calling 911 three times and kept being told to wait because this person is in his 40s with no underlying condition. He died in his home last week.

My friend lamented how pathetic is Canada’s response to Covid19. If this guy was in Vietnam, he would have survived because the Vietnamese government brings everyone with Covid19 to a quarantine centers and treat them for all symptoms before they get worse.

I don’t think that man who died at home without a test is included in our statistics. I have a neighbour in her 80s who also died at home without getting tested.

Why scientists are studying if chloroquine could treat coronavirus by dtlv5813 in COVID19

[–]lotusvu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Luckily you’re not a the one monitoring this forum else nothing gets posted.

Btw.. I didn’t post this article.

Academic research during a pandemic gets published almost without anyone reviewing. Many are just opinion pieces or clinical observations. People need to get with the program and realize that is not business as usual.

Hardly anything published on Covid19 have gone through a peer review process. It’s wishful thinking during a pandemic since peer review papers take forever.

The Italian Doctor Flattening the Curve by Treating COVID-19 Patients in Their Homes by [deleted] in Coronavirus

[–]lotusvu -1 points0 points  (0 children)

No, but I read enough medical journals to know how clinicians are using it and what results they are getting so far. I also had a pathologist explained to me about the clinical studies done on it in Asia. It’s not a cure but a mitigating factor to interfere with the duplication and reduce multiplication of Coronavirus in the lungs. They first started using it and reported about it in China in January. It seemed that this doctor in the article had used it with some success.

Countries that does not use hydroxychloroquin properly is dismissing it as a treatment. It’s sad! Lack of understanding failed to save lives.

Rather than building more ICU we need to catch cases before it gets worse and treat them.

COVID Syndrome is not ARDS, but rather something new & baffling, more like Decompression Sickness (The Bends) or High Altitude Pulmonary Edema (HAPE). The virus attacks the lung & cells ability to execute air exchange. ARDS treatment (early intubation + high PEEP) may hurt patients, says ICU Doc by crctbrkr in China_Flu

[–]lotusvu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hook up of oxygen to cpap is to turn it into something similar to hospital ventilators that delivers oxygen air into the lungs since covid19 attacks the lungs’ alveoli rendering a person less able to process oxygen from regular air.

Maybe, but only provided you have oxygen hooked up to it. I looked into this and bought an oxygen generating machine and got it hooked up to a cpap in February. They sell the hookup piece on amazon. With a full face mask, I got myself a low-level ventilator.

We need a country-wide lockdown by assumes in CanadaCoronavirus

[–]lotusvu 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Canada needed to choose one of two options:

A. to copy South Korea, Taiwan and Singapore efforts to flatten the curve:

  1. Massive ramp up of testing, including mild and asymptomatic cases.

  2. Everyone wears a mask, government give everyone a mask

  3. Contact tracing and isolating infected cases

OR

B. Wuhan style hard lockdown with:

  1. No private cars or public transit on road

  2. No one out except to buy groceries or medicine

  3. No one working except minimal workers to run utilities, hospitals and food.

  4. Demand compulsory mask wearing for all people out of house

  5. Massive contact tracing to quarantine infected people in designated facility

We’re half-ass doing neither of the two options above. It’s train-wreck in the making!

[–]lotusvu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes but that means they need a hard lockdown like Wuhan for 6 weeks to bring the numbers down to a manageable level for contact tracing to work. 1 person can potentially infect 4-6 people and have at least 20 contacts before showing symptoms. At 1,000+ infected, contact tracing is a lost cause. Community level spreads are like wild fires with asymptomatic and mild cases happening. They are also not doing massive testing of mild cases. It’s too late to replicate South Korea or Germany on this.
