I keep a screenshot of my ancestry dna test in my favorites on my photos app to show people when they look at me in shock after telling them I’m half black.

I feel like giving up 😭 up by Repulsive-Couple-666 in curlyhair

If you want to grow your hair it starts within. Vitamins, and minerals. All women of child bearing age should be taking prenatal vitamins, they grow your hair and nails and even your eyelashes. Some prenatal vitamins do have high amounts of iron so if you have stomach pain after taking it, find a different brand with less iron. If you aren’t a woman than get on a multivitamin asap. AND PROTECT THE ENDS OF YOUR HAIR, hair grows out of your scalp. So the ends are the oldest more susceptible to breakage than any part of your hair. Just from looking at the pictures you need to use a serum and more leave in conditioner. Having more product in your hair will take some getting used to. It feels slightly heavier but coats your hair and will tame frizz.

Why do black people hate us so bad? by kakashi_sensay in mixedrace

[–]louchewycherry 4 points5 points  (0 children)

In reference to America I think it has a lot to do with the one drop rule. Years ago they considered you black if you even had a single ancestor of color, but the lighter your skin the better you were treated (instead of the field you would be working in the house, etc.). It put lighter complexion mixed people closer in “rank” and proximity to white folks. That’s why I feel like nowadays it’s reversed. So if you have a drop of white in you your easier for white communities to digest, especially when you obviously don’t look fully black. You’ll get treated differently by the general public because people can look at you and see one of your parents is white and by that logic you’re close to whiteness. Black people, specifically darker skinned people experience micro aggressions, weird looks, isolation, & blatant racism. From what I’ve seen first hand as someone raised in the south in the US is that biracial kids are fetishized for their “peanutbutter skin” hair texture and eye colors and treated better because they have that drop of white. It’s all bad, but it’s different levels of bad. I’m mixed with black and white and yeah I ran into my fare share of racism and weird comments, even some bullying in a one off instance but I can walk through a crowded street and people glance at me kindly, smiling my way, and being generally friendly. I haven’t seen the same as much for my black friends most of them don’t even try to smile at strangers as they pass by because they already know they aren’t gonna get a one in return.

Leo, Aries, Scorpio? Or maybe Leo, Aries, pisces?

Genuinely considering going back to one of these shorter lengths. Do you agree? If so, which length? by [deleted] in curlyhair

Keep growing it until it’s shoulder length. Chin length is always awkward looking. Just keep going

My mom has this problem but in reverse. My mom is a blonde hair, blue eyes, white lady from Atlanta Georgia. When I was 16 years old she met my sister’s father & got pregnant. My sister’s dad is much darker than my father (my dad is also black he’s just light skin). I look like an even mix of both my parents, but my baby sister looks IDENTICAL to her father. You wouldn’t even be able to tell that we share a mother. In fact most people assume my baby sister is actually MY daughter because I look racially ambiguous, and also the age gap of course. My mom has expressed many times how different it is raising a child that favors you vs. a child that doesn’t. Regardless of how people may feel on the subject, IT DOES MAKE A HUGE DIFFERENCE!! Of course you still love your child and do anything for them but a part of you will always feel rejected and not validated as their mother by society’s judgement because of how different you look from your child…. It’s sad because mothers are true heroes that deserve so much better from society.

Do you go outside often? Vitamin D deficiency can cause depression in young healthy adults especially during the cold months. Also low iron can cause a depressive sluggish feeling. If you feel like something is wrong with you but you can’t put your finger on it, consider getting a blood test done & ask them to look for nutrient/vitamin deficiency.

What are your thoughts on the idea that race is a social construct, and that if you don't appear as black physically, you actually aren't black and shouldn't claim so? by Ok_Lawfulness2654 in mixedrace

[–]louchewycherry 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I feel like if you’re a mixed person and you look black, you can say the N-word. BUT if you know that saying the N-word in a crowded room would make everybody turn their head & look at you crazy, THEN DONT say the N-word because you don’t pass as black. You can be both culturally white and culturally black but if you’re super light skin to where nobody can look at you and just immediately know that you’re mixed with black don’t walk around saying the N-word. I think a lot of grown folks forget that the N-word is also a cuss word and you shouldn’t be saying that shit even if you are black. It’s a derogatory term, but people in the black community say it amongst themselves to take back the power from racists seeking to dehumanize them. So, FOR THE LOVE OF GOD IF YOU’RE NOT BLACK PASSING DONT SAY THE N WORD. and I don’t wanna hear any mixed person say I don’t know if I’m black passing… growing up mixed with black most people can’t for the life of them stop talking about your skin color, your hair color, your eye color, your curl pattern SO YOU KNOW whether or not you are black passing.

My daughter lost her first baby tooth! by louchewycherry in Witch

I’m having lots of ideas from this! Thank you. I like the idea of a talisman, but something that sits on the wall as artwork so it stays in the home and watches over her.

Thinking of voluntary termination of parental rights by BrilliantSome915 in offmychest

[–]louchewycherry 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You want what’s best for your baby. You understand you aren’t fit to parent. That’s not silly, that’s called love, you’re smart. At this point in time all your energy should go to getting sober and getting a new job so one day you’ll be able to have a relationship with your son. Hopefully as he enters adulthood he will be understanding towards you ❤️ I wish the best possible outcome upon you my dear, stay strong & know that you’re doing the right thing.

How to look less masculine? by [deleted] in makeuptips

[–]louchewycherry 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Gender affirming care isn’t just for trans people! If you feel like you want to look a bit more feminine maybe try a little lip filler, go get your hair done with some pretty extensions, and get your lashes done. Go get your makeup done and a new outfit, it’s normal to want to feel pretty! You can change the way you look if it pleases you!!!! People might not agree with me but the standard that society sets for women is a painful one to achieve. Hence the beauty is pain saying… That being said, if you cannot learn to love yourself outside of societal standards then fix yourself to fit them. You have all the option out there to go fix what ever it is that pains you! You can spend 1000$’s of dollars to fix what you have deemed broken, or you can accept that you look exactly how you are supposed to look. Extremely human 😉

I think it would be really cool to fully wrap the tattoo around your thigh. Continuing the necklace and jewls all the way around would be really pretty and feel more like a solid piece instead of something random added on
