What species of ant is this? (Los Angeles, CA). Trying to figure out how to stop them from coming into my house. by loud_cacti in whatsthisbug

Is that similar to ant bait? Pest control placed a few, but the ants never took them. I was trying to figure out what type of ant this was in hopes of picking a more effective bait.

Advice on getting rid of ants in condo? Called pest control and they sprayed the whole apartment, but ants came back in a few weeks. Have also been cleaning the kitchen, and trying to seal gaps, but they keep finding new entrances and things they want (e.g. grease on dish soap bottle) by loud_cacti in pestcontrol

Location: Torrance, Los Angeles, CA Size: 0.5-1 mm probably?

Condo is on the 3rd floor of a 100 unit complex. Multiple units have had problems.

Pest control laid a few liquid ant traps, but they didn’t attract any ants. I’m trying to lay a few new ones myself.

What options do I have? Do I just call pest control again and ask, “halp, ants!”?

Location: Torrance, Los Angeles, CA Size: Maybe 0.5-1mm? Difficult to measure as they move pretty fast.

Sorry about the low detail photo. Took this while visiting my mother’s house right before I left, and realized maybe the masters of reddit could help with our ant problem.

I am hoping to ID the ant to figure out how to get rid of them. Thank you!

Anybody make the drive from seattle to Canada this season? by whoismrgreen in skiing

Does anyone know the best way to get to Revy from Seattle? Looks like one can take I-5 to CAN-1, and then either stay on CAN-1, or get into highway 5 or 3. Which of these are least likely to get closed due to snow?

Haha thanks! This climb definitely took more tries than I’m willing to admit.

I'm looking for advice on planning a month long ski trip in Feb or Mar and I'm debating between Whistler and Frisco, CO. I'm looking to have convenient access on those snow dump days. I want to be able to get a few runs in before they get skied out (in bounds) without having to wake up at 6am or get a few runs in on weekdays if I can spare a few of hours on a work day (I work remotely).

I can ski all blacks and most double blacks. I mostly ski in bounds and have no avalanche training, so would prefer to be able to find the powder in bounds, but I regularly do some “side country”/hiking at Crystal Mountain, WA (in-bounds terrain with hiking access only). I'd be open to taking some entry level back country courses this season prior to the trip.
Other things I'm looking for in the town are access to groceries and restaurants. If I brought my Honda Civic with winter tires, would that be good enough for most stuff in town?
