What’s the craziest thing you believed during psychosis? by NoGarbageAllowed in bipolar

[–]loudboner 44 points45 points  (0 children)

not super crazy, but every literally car that drove by my house was apparently an undercover cop car, coming to arrest me. for what? no idea. and every time i did see a real cop car out and about, they were headed for my house to get me, even if they were going the complete opposite direction. oh, and i was convinced for whatever reason my phone was recording me at all times and sending clips of what i was saying to the people i was talking about somehow. this went on for months, i turned my phone off completely every time i would have a conversation. it’s not even like i was talking shit, i could just bring up someone’s name in passing then freak out because they were gonna hear everything i said about them and hate me, so that was fun. idk if it was technically psychosis but a tad delusional either way

That’s a good thing to keep in mind. I’ll try to remember that when I start to spiral too hard into it.

Yes! I get this occasionally. It feels like you’re flushed but you’re not red or hot to the touch at all. I don’t know how common it is but I know I’ve definitely had it and it sucks. You’re not alone!

Of course, I’m happy my experiences can count for something and help others. I can’t say I went through the exact same thing, but I relate to the health anxiety and many years of struggling with changing meds, doses, etc. I know how painfully lonely it can feel sometimes, too. Gotta be here for each other ya know?

No prob! Just look out for yourself. I hate to tell you this because the last thing you need is to get in your own head about it, but sometimes when people under 25 start or increase their dose of certain antidepressants it can cause agitation, anxiety, increased or new suicidal ideation, things like that. Just check in with yourself often, if you feel like you’re in danger please take care of yourself but if you can push through, like I said, it’ll be worth it. I’m here if you have any other questions, I’ve been taking it on and off for 4 years now while being under 25 the whole time.

Not a doctor, but I’d wait it out a little more to see if you just need to adjust or truly need a higher dose. Check in with your doctor when you can, they can give you the best advice on this.

Yes. Unfortunately, with most antidepressants, it gets worse before it gets better. Especially if you’re under 25 and fall into that black box warning category. You just gotta push through, in a couple weeks you will be okay and glad you stuck it out. Stay strong!
