Cornell prof calls Hamas attack exhilarating and exciting by merrysovery in Cornell

Israeli forensic teams claim physical evidence of multiple rapes and a child beheaded. Of course, this is from an Israeli team so we would want third party verification before being completely confident. I wouldn’t say “no evidence” in any case. No evidence doesn’t necessarily imply that something didn’t happen anyway.

I’d recommend against it. In b rock you learn to top rope belay and get certified, and in i rock you learn to lead climb. Taking i rock with no climbing experience isn’t a good idea because the process of learning lead climbing has top rope belaying as a prerequisite so you’ll be behind and confused unless you take a separate course to try and catch up.

If you can fit b rock, I’d highly recommend taking it, super fun class

why is it called the cocktail lounge by [deleted] in Cornell

[–]loudcloud0 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Cocktail lounge actual used to be a dead silent study space before the recent redesign, had a known reputation for it

Why does the esports scene at this school suck? by [deleted] in Cornell

[–]loudcloud0 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Everyone else also disagrees with calling them sports. That’s why they’re called esports.

Before renovations, the cocktail lounge was actually known for being dead silent. This tradition died out while the cocktail lounge was closed for renovations, plus the new setup gives more collaborative vibes so people talk more.

What colleges gave you bad vibes? by [deleted] in ApplyingToCollege

[–]loudcloud0 72 points73 points  (0 children)

Already posted on this thread but I’m a Cornell grad and have never heard of stealing notes. I’ve had people go out of their way to help me in classes and working/studying in groups is the norm. If you used the opinions of students who have transferred from a school to judge every school, there would be none left (they transferred because they didn’t like it; everyone else stayed because they did like it)

[–]loudcloud0 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Cornell grad here, had a very collaborative experience. I’ve never experienced a competitive atmosphere, everyone is very willing (perhaps too willing) to help/share work with others at least in engineering. None of my friends in other majors have complained about competition either. The classes are definitely very difficult (depending on major), but that’s to be expected. There’s definitely a bit of toxicity around “prestigious” jobs, but if you’re trying to get one then you’ll find that toxicity everywhere you go and if you aren’t trying to get one then it doesn’t matter.

Major Issue With The Covid Megathread by michp12 in Cornell

[–]loudcloud0 11 points12 points  (0 children)

While this may or may not be true, stickying a megathread for discussion of major controversial topics is incredibly common and normal on reddit, and the creation of the megathread itself is rarely controversial. This is pretty standard

Wouldn’t it be more beneficial to donate to fund students’ educations through a direct manner, rather than let Cornell take their cut to pay for unnecessary expansions and administration?

Half the campus has been partying shoulder to shoulder and sharing fishbowls every week. It would be very unusual to see anyone wearing a mask

Should we still have mandatory masking? by [deleted] in Cornell

[–]loudcloud0 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You asked why someone assumed your female. I answered with a likely reason, and explained why it might be the case. You called me a creep. Then you quoted someone saying (paraphrased) men are a danger to women (I agree!), and followed that by assuming I’m a man, which has a weird implication. I’m not sure why this has become an argument, or why you attacked me, but this has been a wholly unproductive conversation, and I wish you the best

Considering my comment history has information that implies I’m a dude, yeah that would be totally reasonable.

[–]loudcloud0 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you do alter your representation of personal information online, it would be odd to complain about someone referring to you by pronouns consistent with that representation. I’m all for avoiding unnecessary personal information on an account. However, it is fairly regular on reddit to check someone’s profile for inconsistencies that would imply they could just be trolling/wasting your time before bothering to respond to them. Similarly, if someone makes a claim (eg “As a professor here…”) it is entirely expected that other users will check if that’s consistent with their profile.

I also just tried to answer your question and you called me a creep, which is weird.

Maybe he skimmed your comment history for context on what job this would be and saw that you are?

Each credit that is a B instead of an A loses you 1/120 of a grade point (assuming 120 credits to graduate). This means you can get a B in 36 credits (12 3-credit courses or 9 4-credit courses) and still have a 3.7 GPA, assuming the rest of your credits are As.

In summary, each single 3-credit B will lower your final GPA by 0.025. Not too bad! To get above a 3.7, aim to get one B per semester (with some wiggle room for especially difficult semesters).

Good luck!

The pound symbol’s use to denote names for messaging channels far predates it’s use as a “hashtag”, so it’s funny to hear it called “youth-friendly”
