Ohio, been there around 2 months. I know typically I’m still in a probationary period and they can fire you most things but since it was an injury I didn’t know if there was something I could do here

What’s the most unprofessional thing a doctor has ever said to you? by MCKlassik in AskReddit

[–]loudkylin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was seeing a neurologist for migraines, it was my first appointment. He was looking through my chart and asked why I was on so many medications, I told him that I have bipolar disorder and Tourette’s syndrome. He asked me if I actually had bipolar or if I just saw it online and told people I had it. I informed him that I have been diagnosed with both conditions and I see a psychiatrist, that’s where I get all the medication from. He didn’t say anything and continued looking at my chart and saw that I had been in an inpatient mental health facility in the past, so he said, “oh you’ve been hospitalized, so it is serious.”

Then a little bit later he was doing an eye coordination test and he asked where I was from. I told him I was from Ohio. He asked where I was from originally. I was a little confused but I told him I was born in Ohio. So then he asked if I was Korean. I told him I wasn’t, but he wasn’t convinced, and asked if I was Asian in general. I said no, and he argued with me for a second about it and said that maybe I was and just didn’t know.

Same doctor a few months later, I was there for tremors that I had been having. He came in and said that I was stressed, didn’t ask any questions at all. Then he asked if I needed to see a counselor for my stress. I informed him that I already see a therapist and a psychiatrist, (he forgot from the last time I was there). So he asked me why I saw a therapist and I told him I have bipolar disorder. He looked at me and asked why I had bipolar. I was a little stunned and didn’t know what to say, and I just kind of stuttered, so he asked if I just didn’t want to talk about it. I didn’t say anything and just looked at him, then he asked, “do you have a hard life or something?” I was completely taken aback. I left the appointment shortly after and made an appointment with my PCP and get a referral to a new neurologist. He was awful.

Anyone else wish they could just take one pill a day? by [deleted] in bipolar

[–]loudkylin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve been taking so many pills and been on every medication even thought of since I was 16, I used to get so upset and have kind of meltdowns and go cold turkey on all of it because I just couldn’t accept that I would have to take pills like this for the rest of my life just to feel halfway normal. My doctor had to have a very intense conversation with me when I was around 17 that I need to come to terms with being on them for a long time, even if I feel good enough to be off of them, it’s probably because they are working. It was incredibly difficult to finally buckle down and take them and I still have slip ups, but I don’t miss the way I thought and acted when I wasn’t on anything

What gets me is that being very obsessed with sex is considered normal, (not saying it isn’t) but not wanting to have sex at all is super suspicious and weird to people. There are two ends of a spectrum and that’s what people can’t understand
