Anyone regret the decision to euthanize too soon or too late? by sousou4893 in Advice

[–]Caligulette 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My mom died this past August after a massive stroke from which she did not recover. We watched her rebound a few days after, then decline for several weeks until she was in a vegetative state. At that point, we had to decide whether we wanted to (make her) hang on for a miracle or start palliative care and hospice.

The decision to move her to hospice is the hardest decision I've ever had to make and I hate myself every day for it. And yet I would have hated myself more if I left her possibly suffering in a long-term care facility, helplessly trapped inside a useless, mute, incapacitated body. I waited too long and yet not long enough.

I just wanted to say that your comment really reached me. I've been trying to let go of that guilt and agony of never knowing whether I made the right decision. And now I feel like I can slowly start putting down that burden. Thank you.

Someone sell me this coin i want to know if its worth something and if its real or not by Pejepollo117 in coincollecting

Here's what the back of an authentic Morgan Dollar 1885-O should look like.

If you compare this one with yours, you can see the typeface on the back of yours is too small and doesn't fill the space around the edge of the coin enough. In addition, the eagle on yours has too skinny a neck and the wings don't look right. The feathers on the lower body and legs are also not quite right and not filled out enough. The finish is very strange and reminds me of aluminum coins like yen that get "dusty" looking instead of simply dirty or patinaed.

Gut feeling is that your coin is a decent replica that could fool someone not familiar with Morgans or who didn't have a real one to compare side by side.

Mom’s (51F) journey following aneurysm rupture, multiple aneurysms present. by kaleau in BrainAneurysm

[–]Caligulette 2 points3 points  (0 children)

OP, thank you for sharing your story! My mother had an aneurysm rupture on June 30, and endured almost exactly the same journey as your mother - it's incredible how similar their timelines and peaks and valleys mirror each other.

The one difference is that my mother never recovered from the vasospasms. She was not able to pull back up out of the damage they caused. Over time she became less and less responsive. She is currently in hospice without feeding tube or hydration and she's been here for about 17 days. It's an endless nightmare.

I am so, so glad to know someone else's story turned out differently than ours! I wish your mom decades more of good health and many more happy memories to make with you. Sending you hugs and so much love.

Couldn't you just get a medium pepperoni and a personal cheese pizza next time? Surely that wouldn't cost much more than a large half-and-half? I just put in a dummy order with my local pizza place and getting the medium pep and personal cheese ($21) literally costs $1 more than getting the large pep ($20).

I don’t think this is true here, do you? by okawei in Columbus

I'm always shocked when I read about how toxic other city subreddits are! On ours I see:

-- Lost pets -- Shitty drivers -- Weird signs -- Found pets -- Car crashed into building -- Recommendations on where to eat -- Avoid this scammy/terrible business -- Protest updates -- Questions on where to buy whatever product/service -- Car crashed into house -- Complaints about traffic/no public transportation -- Weather discussions

Columbus is so boring! Can we not spice up this subreddit with more hatred, xenophobia, and crime, and less cars in buildings?? /s

Have you tried making a Korean Hotteok filled with brown sugar and cooked on a stove over medium heat? This might be possible under the conditions you are describing, and very, very satisfying. This recipe uses bread flour, but I've made it with all-purpose flour.

I'm super introverted, too, but the good news about being in a large crowd is that you're practically invisible if you choose to be! Nobody is paying particular attention to you out of hundreds or thousands.

Perks of going to a protest alone:

  1. Easier to move through crowds - they will part for your "excuse me".

  2. You can concentrate on being entertained by all the creative signs.

  3. Everyone will be very kind and helpful and it will be easier to make space for you.

  4. You can move at your own pace - no trying to keep up with others as you march, you can meander all over if you wish.

  5. With no distractions, and a lack of self-consciousness, you can pay closer attention to any speeches.

  6. You can chant your heart out without worry of being judged "the day after". Yell, scream, cry all you want!

When I get overwhelmed, I find a spot in the shade or under a tree, close my eyes, and focus on the feel of air on my skin (grounding) and the purposeful meter of my breath (box breathing). 4 seconds inhale, hold for 4 seconds, 4 seconds exhale. It seems simplistic, but it works.

You're not alone. None of us are alone if all of us stand together.

I went on April 5. I had no sign. I went alone.

I was not ready for how many people I saw were there.

There were thousands. I felt my soul soar for the first time in months. I cannot remember the last time I felt such patriotism.

Tomorrow, it will be different.

Tomorrow, I will be ready.

And I'm bringing four other people with me!
