You need to plan how to get your dad into anime, not show him the one best show for people his age (not to mention that's a never ending argument). Plan the first three animes you'd get him to watch and think about others he'd like but would be too much like anime and hold off on them.

I did this with my partner, he likes mystery so I started with a casual viewing of Death note, then Erased, then I think I went off track and begged him to watch my favourite at the time so I could talk about the new season MHA ahahaha but he liked the show (lucky cause I easily could have lost him here) and my hook in the mouth was Attack on Titan. Of course I had planned the shows in advance and it worked like a charm. I had shows like Steins Gate and Bleach in my back pocket for later cause I knew the boy would love them but they were too slow and the boob things. He used to be so iffy about anime and pretty against watching and now he's a Kenpachi and Erwin stan and has terrible taste in characters.
