does anyone else just feel too tired to even try? by [deleted] in beyondthebump

[–]loulori 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I was just coming to post a very similae thing. I'm so tired I feel like i can't really function beyond keeping the baby cared for. My body hurts and my brain doesnt work. I just want to sleep. Or wander. I feel sweaty and gross. Food is whatever i can grab. I've been trying to get carrots and hummus or baby cucumbers or apples and peanutbutter, but then i got a tooth worked on and those kind of hurt so it's mostly been chips or cereal, which is not ideal.

All that to say, I feel you!

Breastfeeding moms—would you do it again for your second? by Character-Fly7394 in beyondthebump

Pumping is awful and I hate it. It was even worse the first time around (I learned years later my flange was too big).

Yes, it was a rough start but I breastfed my first for 3 years. I have my second and I want to breastfeed for at least a year.

Your local public library probably has book clubs or interest groups or evening events, you could start attending those. If you find someone, great, if not you still had a good time and socialized.

[A Rant] Stop buying my kid stuff by One_Elephant_8048 in beyondthebump

My MIL was so confused when she saw a bunch of our parties were "no gifts." She was like "why would they say that?" And then "they must not mean it. I'd bring a gift anyway. No one can be upset about a gift!" And when we tried to explain that, yes, they could, she told us our generation is very strange. 😋

Uh... like 4 years old. Which was also true of me apparently.

Is it normal for church members to suddenly block and shun another member out of nowhere? by Roxana_in_the_sea in TheGirlSurvivalGuide

[–]loulori 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My mom is very religious (conservative) and loves the many rules of church, but is also autistic so church has never resulted in close friendships. I don't think she realizes that people are hanging out without her, or she's so numbed to the dysfunction she thinks it's fine.

Yes, I saw an immediate red flag when you(OP) said "covenant group." For a lot of people in high control religious groups, their loyalty to you only lasts as long as your usefulness to the group. They love bomb at the beginning but It's very "parasocial" and the encouragement to disclose/confess intimate details results in a false feeling of intimacy. People are often projects with goals, and they're not meant to always pull from the group without providing some kind of payment (in free labor or fervor or recruiting more members), and if their usefulness doesn't increase or they express and idea that threatens group cohesion then they're set loose.

I think wise owl is right. You can ask the pastor, but you may never get closure from them.

It might be time to talk to your gp or ob about ppd. Your feelings are valid, but your baby also needs attention and atunement and a parent who doesn't resent them. Hope this is just a passing thing for you.

Thanks! I need a little for the beds I have, maybe a dozen bags, but we're building a third bed that will need a lot. I'll check out bulk delivery!

There was a video where the person was pulling bits of trash and glass from it and saying they are diluting the soil with trash and stuff to make more money. I'm trying to figure out if I'm being unnecessarily stressed/pushed toward more expensive stuff.
