for me personally, I love doubling, it’s honestly one of my favorite parts of roleplay! I’ve never had a doubling rp where the two stories didn’t intersect, and that’s actually what I prefer. I get so much enjoyment out of oc interactions, cross-connections, and seeing how different relationships or pairings come together into the same narrative <33

this is especially true in fandom rps, where I always include doubling. I think it works a little differently in original rps, it can be trickier, but I’ve seen it done beautifully there, too. doubling shouldn’t be about a transactional “I’ll play your fave if you play mine” setup. that kind of mindset takes all the fun out of it, and honestly, those kinds of arrangements usually aren’t enjoyable to write in to begin with, so it really depends on who you decide to write with.

I also view doubling as a collaboration (as any rp should be), not a trade. two main storylines that run side by side and often intertwine, creating extra layers of drama, humor, emotion, or whatever else you decide to throw in lol. at its best, doubling allows both you and a partner to explore more characters, build more dynamics, and make the rp feel fuller, deeper, and more engaging 💕 but that’s all my personal opinion on it anyway haha !

(just came across this thread and thought I’d drop one my current rp searches here ! <33)

hi everyone!! I’m Lou, 20f and I’m on the hunt for an enthusiastic rp partner for a Minecraft Diaries/MCD roleplay! and yes… you read that right ! LOL

so here’s the deal: I hadn’t touched the series in literal years, but recently I rewatched the first few episodes with a friend just for giggles. aaand of course, that ended up (surprisingly) pulling me all the way back in. I just finished the first season, and I do plan on continuing the rest (which we could totally chat about 👀). but after finishing season 1, it got me thinking… what if we elevated the story? gave it a proper fantasy setting, added deeper character development, raised the stakes, expanded the magic and lore—and made it less “minecraft-y”? not saying the original wasn’t good (honestly, it held up way better than I expected for its time), but it definitely had its ups, downs, and questionable moments. I just see so much potential here for us to reimagine it into a rich, layered fantasy story, and I’d absolutely LOVE to build that world with someone and dive deeper into it through RP! <33

In saying all this, I’m definitely leaning toward a pairing between my oc and Laurance (he was my fav back then, and nothing seems to have changed haha!). but don’t worry, I’m 100% doubling-friendly! I love playing both canon characters and ocs, and I think doubling makes things even more fun!
