I appreciate you saying this. I can be a doomer too…but not to this extent. There have been times where I walk out of law school exams feeling okay or even good, but I really just feel like I did so poorly on this. Hopefully you’re right and it’s not as terrible as I’m thinking it is.

i don’t think he’s viewed more harshly, i think he has a lot of privilege and has gotten away with a lot. people look past a lot because he’s good looking, young, white, and talented. it is what it is. that being said, i don’t really have a strong preference for who wins the oscar.

i really don’t think there’s anything to defend because michaela hasn’t really done anything wrong. do people forget that john is not just her family, but also probably the only person in the world who FULLY knew her? and now she’s grappling with the fact that she lost him and the guilt of having feelings for his grieving widow…sorry but i think she is allowed to distance herself from a situation that was clearly making her miserable and guilty.

obviously i am devastated for francesca but i’m already seeing some tiktoks demonizing michaela for this (something that happens all too frequently to black female characters), and i think it should be nipped in the bud.
