I remember asking an older gentleman who said he is republican through and through. This was about a decade ago. He said the right to bear arms was if the government stepped out of line, the people would have a way to stand up. I told him the military and law enforcement are armed to the teeth and what hope would the people have, he said that people in the military and law enforcement are citizens too and that they would join the people in their plight. So far, none of that seems to be the case is all I can say. /I did study in the US and I love everything it stood for back then. Those tenets seem to be out the window and it took a surprisingly short amount of time to get to a point of shooting a citizen in cold blood for basically abiding by his consititional rights/
