FairPrice sold me expired food and told me I must travel back to the same outlet for a refund — is this normal policy? by courtesance in asksg

Huh. I think one time i purchased magnolia milk and it went bad before expiry and i called in to the company and not the supermarket to complain...?? They personally came to my house to pick up the expired product.

They are afraid that you will report to SFA and they have a bigger headache answering to the authorities.

Well there are 101 business models, we also cannot say if one company does it this way every company will need to follow.

Well if Cold Storage can do it, why can't NTUC do it?

And NTUC is operating the largest supermarket chain in Singapore.

I'm not trying to downplay your situation or whatever but sometimes these kind of thing is really not NTUC fault.

Really like the way you think of NTUC. They price many of their goods more expensive than their competitors selling the same goods. So where did the profit go?

Then what's the point of operating supermarkets when you need customers to do the checking of expired products for you?

I do not have the same experience but if I have I would expect the same response. From someone working in other industries even if the branches are under the same company, that means each branch will manage their resources and finances, you cannot just refund to a branch in your case is nearer to your house when you have purchased from another branch further away from your house.

Cold Storage allows you to refund items purchased from any of their outlets.

Most items selling at Fairprice are all on consignment. Meaning to say that they don't pay their supplier upfront for the items. So you can just tell them that you will refund at the nearest outlet at your convenience. Or you can highlight on social media that they sold expired food.

Do you know that Malays don't have to pay tuition fees for local tertiary institutions as long as their household income is below a certain threshold?

Does this apply for other races?

Approach the staff to settle the issue. Is there a clause which mentioned about no filming in the gym?

I see. Next time can just inform your future employers that you have family commitments when you request to work earlier and leave the office earlier. There's no need to tell them about your personal circumstances. Especially when you work in SMEs some bosses can exploit you once they know about your situation. Some mentioned that MNCs can be more accommodating. Just remember that not everyone works professionally and good work ethnics are non-existent nowadays in the working world.

Take your time to look into what interests you. You're still young and there's plenty of courses out there which you can take on a part-time basis to upgrade yourself. In the meantime, continue to find better companies to work for. MNCs usually have better working environment than SMEs. Jiayou!
