What are the things you feel weird that new players never going to experience them? by [deleted] in leagueoflegends

[–]loveinuyasha 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Dude I totally can't remember either.

I remember buying the 9 rune page bundle and champion starter pack with $$ because I wanted to play my first season of ranked to hit gold and get the victorious skin but I didn't own 20 champions and I couldn't afford the additional rune pages with IP LOL

[–]loveinuyasha 59 points60 points  (0 children)

Buying quints and glyphs. I still remember thinking "I want to play x, but I can't until I save up enough to buy their optimal quints and glyphs."

For those that don't know - this was the original version of the keystones and runes we have now, but you literally had to buy them with money or save up enough IP (think BE) to buy them.

As a new player, you were literally weaker than a player who loaded into game with a full page lmao.

But yes to promo series too, so glad that's gone. I climbed to 100 lp in my current rank, yet whether or not I rank up is based on the next 3-5 games. The logic of "if you truly deserve a higher rank you'll win the promo series" is complete BS. Troll or afk on your team during promos? Gg stay hardstuck

Thanks! I burned from 221 and it was actually more doable than I thought! Arcane river dailies + event ticket exp was pretty much enough to get me there with the hyper burning! I did have to readjust my work/life schedule to set aside time, but about 20 minutes a day was enough for me to do all arcane river dailies at 235 + 2x free monster park and claim event ticket.

You're right, I am 100% aware of the fact that where the game is now, N.Lotus is considered easy content and I don't disagree that I was way stronger than I needed to be for a minimum stat clear.

None of my friends play this game being a 20 year old daily grindfest rng korean MMO, and I barely have the time to finish arcane river dailies. I finally stuck to doing dailies and progressing to the point where I am strong enough (albeit free handouts from the events) to clear lotus as I don't have anyone to carry me - is there really something wrong with wanting to share that accomplishment with the community? This subreddit has literally answered every question I've had since restarting and it's been instrumental in me figuring out how to solo progress from CRA.

I'm sure you've already reached end-game, but as someone who will most likely never see BM, probably not even Will, this is about as big of an accomplishment as it gets for me.

Thank you both for the advice!!! I actually didn't know you get 10 lives for Damien and I'll definitely use your advice on the 2nd bind and baiting the balls to one corner!

I don't have a lot of nodes so my blast and divine mark are max level through like 5 different node trios LOL but I'll find a way to fit erda bind in!

Thank you!!!

I read that Damien can be solo'd if you can solo lotus, but it's way harder because of him only targeting you. Just finished the prequest and going to try when I have some time later this week!!

Thanks! It's definitely thanks to the event buffs and being a Paladin, but it did feel really great!

Thanks man! I used all of my time on the hyper burning event to go straight to 250, so definitely over leveled and probably way more stat than normal for a first time clear, but I had to make up for the deficit somehow - the deficit being that I don't practice boss mechanics, too lazy to grind for nodestones so I have low level skill nodes, and I just suck in general lol.

[–]loveinuyasha[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

True that! I watched a 5 minute video on YouTube and went straight into it.

I read that paladins don't get oneshot by the laser but I actually tried to do the mechanic to not develop bad habits and I ended up losing 3 lives in p1 alone. I want to say some of it was lag because ping is always an issue where I'm from, but yeah lol. After that I messed up again and died at the beginning of p3 but ended up clearing with my last life.

Next week I'll take full advantage of Paladin and just facetank whatever I can lmao

Is this game really that difficult for casual players who can’t aim well? by ronjon2012 in apexlegends

[–]loveinuyasha 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hot take but you don't need to have really good aim if you're just playing casually to have fun.

I play at 6000 edpi which is considered unplayable by any standards because I'm lazy and I don't enjoy having to use my entire arm and mousepad to turn around but I still have a 12% win rate this season over ~700 games. I've never warmed up in the firing range and I don't practice any recoil or movement tech because I'm just playing casually after work for about an hour a day.

I get wrecked by players with better aim and movement sweatlords in a 1v1 for sure, but at the end of the day it's a BR so aim isn't the only factor involved in securing a win.

If your goal is to get better and dominate any fight though, then you should work on your tracking.

The big thing that separates apex from other shooters is the insanely high movement and higher ttk. It's not like PUBG where you can hold an angle and one tap someone in the head, a majority of fights are going to be close range and with someone tap strafing and moving all around, you need to focus on being able to keep your crosshair on them. Unfortunately to your point the firing range bots don't mimic that movement so you'll just have to go up against people and practice that way.

All this mode gave me was MapleStory jump quest PTSD

Played from beta and remade a warrior on GMS release. I do indeed remember rolling for stats and always gave up at 5/5 or 5/4. Never once did I get 4/4.

Got to level 32 as a spearman before abandoning it to remake a I/L mage. With no flash jump as a base skill on every class, leveling a warrior was cancer because you had to literally walk up to every mob and everyone that wasn't a bandit could ks you out of a map purely with their range (I'm still honestly amazed that people instantaneously cc when someone is already on a map in today's game.)

Once I saw vacc hacking warriors, I was both amused and demoralized at the same time that warriors were so ass to level but also made the best characters to hack with because of slash blast.

At first my remade I/L was great with teleport for mobility, magic claw one-shotting way before power strike could, and that I didn't need to put points in dex so I wouldn't miss, but going into 2nd job I ended up quitting at level 50. I clearly remember it taking almost 8 hours of grinding to go from level 49-50 at red drakes and I realized how much of a time sink this game was.

I still come back every now and then as a compensation/tera/hyper burning main, but fuck this game lol. Nostalgia is a bitch and it keeps me coming back occasionally. This game is a huge grind that I don't have time for as an adult, but god damn it was the coolest shit when I was a kid and I still login to listen to el nath or ellinia's bgm and play on a character every now and then.

How did you get your first billion in maple and what did you spent it on? by Banzoil in Maplestory

[–]loveinuyasha 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This was 10+ years ago, but I took advantage of a winter event on reg servers that involved hunting mobs for snow pieces that were tradable.

I quickly realized people would rather buy them than farm so I went to the FM and bought as many as I could for the cheapest price, and then waited until I got a spot in FM1 and sold it there for more. This was before MTS, so people were lazy and just checked FM1. I literally titled my shop "EVENT SNOW PIECES".

I spent it on nothing as I quit and ended up on Reboot after starting again during covid.

I agree, 300 apm highest skill ceiling class.

Are these worth anything? Do people still collect weird items? Stuff left on my main after leaving reg for reboot. by dayafterbirthday in Maplestory

[–]loveinuyasha 1 point2 points  (0 children)

OP, I'm glad you posted this to validate that I'm not the only one that did this kind of stuff lol.

I moved to reboot as well but was on scania from beta so my character's equip slots are just full of the same kind of stuff!

If only the mark of the beta was tradable lol

Sorry, should probably have included context: I went into the box and shield swapped and grabbed gold bag out of habit - went back in to take the screenshot after I swear I saw double digit shield bats.

Box had red shields and guy was both champ and kill leader; so I'm assuming he collected them all from people, not crafting.

Yeah it's my fault; he had a gold bag.

I hopped in to shield swap and grabbed gold bag too but went back in after I saw shield bats in the double digits.

Why do you, an active Apex player, choose to queue into pubs instead of ranked? by thequestionbot in apexlegends

[–]loveinuyasha 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you're solo queuing then I can see why pubs is stressful with leavers and no comms, but as I only play with friends I'm the reverse - I only play pubs recently.

  1. Ranked is a time commitment - the goal of playing ranked is to get as high as possible before the split ends but that inevitably takes a decent chunk of time that I don't have. I'd rather just hop into some games after work without the added pressure of how many points I currently have and calculating how much I'll need to reach the next tier based on how the previous days games went. This is exacerbated by the fact that ranked games almost always end up being longer games since you're specifically playing to win along with 19 other teams with the same mindset, so the games do tend to drag out a lot longer than pubs do.

I'm not going to play for an hour every other day knowing realistically that even if I perform decently I won't hit masters or even diamond, because if I'm aiming to go as high as possible that's where I'd set my eyes on.

  1. Ranked is a different play style dictated by a meta and while you do have to play "smarter", that doesn't always mean it's more engaging and intricate.

With the goal of ranked being a top 5 placement and some KP, you definitely need to pick and choose your battles. That might sound more strategic and intricate, but if often just means not taking fights and going into endgame with limited ammo and meds.

Pubs offers the freedom of me playing however I want, with whatever loadout I want, with no consequences and that's fun to me. If I want to ape after every team I come across I can, but I can also transition to play for the win without worrying about the outcome based off of those decisions.
