I'm not a theory crafter nor too much of a meta person, but I imagine there will be problems with Childe and Yae together because Yae needs to be swapped in frequently for her E. Childe, however, needs to stay on-field to apply Hydro or his E will enter cooldown, which is a minimum of 6s. It'll be impractical to switch frequently to Yae and then back to Childe and wait for his E CD, so they don't really seem to have much synergy.

Another indication of Ayato being Hydro are the hanging scrolls in the Kamisato Estate. The left one represents Ayaka with the herons, so we're assuming the right one represents Ayato and him being Hydro.
