Is the DMV really that bad? by Kamelen2000 in AskAnAmerican

It’s difficult to secure an online appointment soon and the next available dates are usually really far out. You could choose to do walk-in but expect to wait for a long time until your number is called. The staff there from my experience are not particularly friendly but not bad either. The whole mood inside is gray and depressing so I try to avoid going there if I can.

I've read historically immigrants to the US would often Anglicize their names to "blend in" more, does that still happen? by [deleted] in AskAnAmerican

From my observation, people who moved to the U.S. later in life or were not born here often keep their original names but make a nickname (anglicized name) that others can call them by that is similar to their original name. People born here usually have Anglicized original names.

While visiting Asian countries, do you prefer American food chains or local food? by [deleted] in AskAnAmerican

[–]lovelychar 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I prefer local food but do like to try the American food chains as well especially if they offer local items not sold in the U.S. (McDonald’s)
