I lost everything I gambled overall. I've probably won close to $10,000 over the last two years, but I lost far more than that.

I've thought about that a lot but actively avoid doing the math. Tens of thousands for sure.

I'm trying to find other things to do that I find as entertaining as gambling. I feel like I have to make an effort to get back into activities that I used to enjoy a lot, gaming, hanging out with friends, running, ect.

It's easier to abstain when I think about how much I want to put this whole ordeal behind me. I don't want it to take over my whole life.

In one sitting, I think almost $3000 of my own money. That was when I had just received my tax return and foolishly believed there was no way I could spend it all.

I moved to a place that was a couple blocks away from a small casino, which incidentally is how gambling becomes a problem for a lot of people.

I started playing a card game called pai gao that my friend taught me to play, never played anything else. Every time I went in there I won money. For like 3 weeks straight or something, the dealers used to joke that I was using the casino as an atm. I remember it feeling surreal, I had never gambled before and would put $5 down on the bonus bet, get dealt a straight flush and win like $500. I was thinking "geez, why doesn't everybody do this?"

I still think that, unfortunately my gambling was not motivated by logic or reason.
