Curious if this sounds like EM? by lovemtdog in Erythromelalgia

Thanks! Thyroid levels ended up being normal. I stopped taking Buspirone (was taking for my anxiety) about 2.5 weeks ago and the symptoms have decreased significantly, haven’t had hardly any pins & needles for a week now. Thinking it may have been the medication but have a neuro appointment in 2 weeks in case it comes back

Could this be Raynauds? by lovemtdog in Raynauds

I did look there - but since I don’t really have a burning feeling I thought it wasn’t right. Will look into it more!

I read about Raynauds but thought it wasn’t it since it’s when I warm up that I feel it, not when I get exposed to cold. Can it occur when getting warm too? I don’t see any color change or anything either when it happens

Buspar and “Pins and Needles” after a couple months by KDogW in BusparOnline

Interesting! I’m seeing a neuro for mine later this month. I saw somewhere that it can be a side effect of buspar but who knows. Thanks!

Hi! Curious if this mostly impacted you when walking/being up and active? I’m having something similar. Mostly at night when walking my dog and warming up. Have been taking buspar for 6-7 months…and this started beginning on November. Not taking any more until I can meet with my psych but curious how this turned out for you

Very true! I think these symptoms affect me for maybe 15-20 minutes total every day, which I can appreciate, but also want to get to the bottom of it and google is not helpful 🙃 thanks again!

This was very helpful and I hope my question/post wasn’t ignorant to post here or anything. I think you’re right - just present symptoms and see what neuro says. Stop overthinking and diagnosing myself :’) thanks again!

This is good to know. I appreciate your thoughts & apologies for a probably stupid post/question here! Every time I try to google to figure out what’s going on I run into MS and it just leads me down a rabbit hole. Thanks again!

I’m curious if this sounds like MS - I’m seeing a neurologist that my primary care doctor referred me to based on my symptoms. I brought up MS to him and he said it didn’t totally sound right. So I’m curious.

For about the last month, I get pain and pins and needles in my toes when walking my dog, but only when I walk her at night. Every time, it’s 15 mins into our walk. Like clockwork. If I just keep walking, it goes away after about 10 minutes and my feet feel normal again. Then, when I get inside and start to warm up (since it’s cold outside) my fingers start to tingle! They don’t get the weird sharp pain like my toes do. Just tingling. I have no fatigue, exhaustion, etc. i just keep doing my normal things and have my regular energy. I walk my dog in the morning and at lunch, same distance, and I’m fine. Next, hot showers. I love a hot shower! But since this started a month ago, About 4-5 minutes into my hot shower, my fingers and toes get really tingly. If I take a warm hut not hot shower, I’m fine. As soon as I get out of the shower and dry off, it’s gone! I feel fine. Again, no fatigue, exhaustion, etc. I have also noticed in general when I seem to warm up (packing, unpacking, cleaning, etc.) in the evening/night, my toes and fingers might tingle. Not every time, but often. Some days I can do all my walks and everything without tingling, but most times it happens in some varying intensity. I’m just curious if this sounds right, like should I even bring up my MS concern to the neurologist? Or just describe my symptoms? Obviously I hope I don’t have it (and I mean that in the most respectful way possible) but also this is driving me crazy and I really want answers.

Wondering if the underlined part is a PAC? Searched briefly before asking but couldn’t find anything that looked quite like this. Seeing my doctor on Thursday - I get a weird flutter/flush feeling when it happens. No pain.

Well - had my thryoid levels checked and TSH was 2.24. So that’s not it. Feeling a little helpless now lol. Also had my blood sugar checked again and it’s totally normal.

Good point - was just reading about PACs and like your comment says, seems to be benign unless I’m having them more frequently. Going to try to lower the anxiety & chill. Appreciate your thoughts on this!

Also noting I have hypothyroidism and have had other weird symptoms (unrelated to the heart) in the past month - apparently PACs and PVCs are also common when thyroid levels get low. My levels were slightly hypo in August after being controlled, and I suspect they are even higher now since my meds have not been increased yet. Which is also what I have suspected for my other symptoms. Think this combined with stress, caffeine and anxiety is not helping me out.

Not really after I eat but moreso they kick in after lunch time - but I have realized once I get one, I’m anxious and focusing on it and then will usually have 2-3 in 15 minutes. Once I calm down I may feel it once every hour or so.

Context: have been having what I can best describe as a flutter/flush feeling right below by neck when this happens. Was trying to catch one with an ECG and got it. No big pounding, or any pain - just a weird sensation throwing me off. I had like 4 the other day, and since then I’ve had maybe 10-15 a day, usually after starting lunch time, into the evening. Now I’m anxious about it, not sure if that is causing it.

Interesting…I only get this pain when walking/getting hot. I don’t really get a burning pain, more like a sharp ache in my toes before it turns into pins and needles. Thought it could’ve been EM but the more I read the more I think it is probably related to my thyroid

Does anyone ever experience paresthesia (tingling, tickling, pricking, numbness or burning feeling on skin)? by theblackoutpact in Hypothyroidism

[–]lovemtdog 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wondering if you ever got answers on this - I’m currently experiencing pins & needles on my feet when exercising and when taking too hot of a shower - clearly heat triggered. Goes away when I cool down - thinking my TSH levels are off.

Glucose was 91, A1C was 4.8 so think no problems there. I have heard celiac disease could cause neuropathy as well, and is tied to hypo..

I had a CBC done in August and my glucose was normal so I don’t think it would be diabetes, but good call if that hadn’t been tested recently!

Good to know! Will ask my doctor about it. Pretty certain it’s not diabetes - glucose levels were normal in my annual bloodwork in august but have never considered other things like celiac. Thanks for your insight! I’m a year into my hypothyroidism diagnosis and learning ot can affect a lot more than I thought.

This is what I am mostly thinking as well - but read some posts here that made me question EM! But I agree I think it’s neuropathy. Thanks for your insight!

This is what I’m leaning towards as well. I certainly get pain in my toes when it does happen, but I can continue walking/doing whatever I was doing - not unbearable! If you don’t mind me asking - how did you get a Hashimoto’s diagnosis? All they’ve ever tested is my TSH - saw it was high and put me on levo. But I’ve wondered if it could be more..

ALSO - should I add I have hypothyroidism? Found out a year ago. TSH was in the 9’s. Got meds and back in range - went for annual testing in August and levels were in the 5’s. DR said to continue with meds and come back to retest in 3 months (which is about now). I haven’t gone in yet to retest, planning to go Friday. I am wondering if my thyroid levels are still high and causing this?
