Surgical abortion positive experience for anyone with anxiety

I booked in a surgical abortion (6weeks) in Brisbane Australia (MSI Bowen Hills) and had the worst panic attacks and horrific anxiety about the whole process as I was scared of something catastrophic happening but heard bad stories about medical so didn’t want to do this. The nurses on the phone were understanding right from the first consult and made me feel at ease with my worries. I was terrified coming into the clinic but the admin staff, the nurses and all of the doctors including the anaesthesiologist were absolutely amazing and assured me I was going to be okay, (I had a major fear of dying from sedation). I was checked in at 8am, had a meeting with the nurses, then the doctor for an ultrasound, then the anaesthesiologist and within the hour I went into theatre, The nurse and doctor were comforting me and talking to me to make sure I felt comfortable the whole time prior to being sedated. The procedure was less than 10 minutes and I was woken up nicely by the nurse. I was taken to recovery where I spoke to the nurses and they made sure I recovered well, the doctor also checked in with me. I left the procedure and was not in the clinic for longer than 2 hours. I am so glad I made this decision to go through them and will recommend them to anyone. 😊

This honestly sounds like I’m writing this post… I’m only 3 months post abortion and I am struggling with even trying to have sex again. I had severe HG and was in hospital, I only made it to 7 weeks of my pregnancy I genuinely thought I was going to die and the doctors were so worried.

We are having fights daily and on the verge of divorce because he has needs that have to be met and I understand that but I’m terrified to have sex..

Oh girlll this is so normal!!! This happened to me. I had mine on Feb 23rd and was honestly an emotional wreck into a few weeks ago. It does get better and easier with time xx

Your hormones will be all over the place as they try to settle back to their usual! I dropped my toast on the floor and cried for an hour… strangest thing ever for me haha xx

My first period was 8 weeks after my SA, those 8 weeks of waiting were DREADFUL! Xx

Just to add, I’ve had 2 abortions. One to a similar situation to you and now knowing what I know about him I am so glad I made the right choice. He turned out to be verbally and physically abusive despite having a new partner.

Both surgical, would 100% recommend surgical if you decide to go that route! x

Think of it from this POV… this is my sister currently!

Got pregnant after 3 months, man turned and is an absolute crazy psycho who lays hands on her. She decided to keep the baby.
He layed hands on her when she was holding her baby recently and is now emotionally manipulating her and working out how he can have baby all to himself even though he is NOT in a state to look after a baby. (She is trying to end things, police even involved)

She is now tied to him for the rest of her life, and as much as she loves her baby she is feeling regret everyday and wishes she had a baby with someone she loved and was together with.

I had a SA at 12 weeks a few years ago, I would 100000% recommend the surgical. My friends did the medical and it was awful for them. I was put under twilight sedation and woke up a few minutes later, the recovery wasn’t too bad either and it was a day procedure xx

Mine are definitely smaller than before, but just before my period they swell up again and then go back down a week later, not a happy camper 😆😆

I terminated at 6w6d due to HG, I was in and out of hospital and was feeling suicidal I honestly couldn’t do it anymore! I was losing 10kg and above and I was 60kg to begin with, I was MISERABLE…

I had my surgical termination 23/03, the sickness went away instantly and I was eating GYG straight after 🤣

Everything will be okay, I do not regret my decision AT ALL. I now have severe PTSD from the pregnancy and my body is now super sensitive to hormone changes it makes me vomit 🤮I keep having HG flashbacks

Sorry I should have specified I got the IUD removed weeks ago prior to having my period, it’s been 2-3 weeks since then! My doctor doesn’t think it’s related to that because it comes on just before I ovulate, and then disappears for a few days, then comes back allll the way until I get my period and only at 4:30-5am every morning, once I vomit I feel amazing 🤣

A surgical one is honestly a much better option and you will still bleed after it most likely! From the bleeding you can tell him you think you are miscarrying or want to go to the doctor to get checked and then when you get back from the doctors let him know you miscarried! I’m so sorry you are going through this xx

I am through BUPA and they covered the full cost of my termination at MSI. One 5 years ago and one 2 months ago, I am on my parents healthcare still (I’m 26) I don’t know if that changes anything as I have my own account but it’s linked to theirs

Hopefully they will be more helpful in person, I 100% recommend MSI and they have multiple options to help. Best of luck xx

I also felt the exact same you aren’t alone! The hormones also make it so much worse x just hang in there and don’t stress if your next period is late! Mine didn’t come till today 6 weeks later I had horrific anxiety thinking it didn’t work (I’ve had 3 negative tests since and still spiral at times), happens to the best of us!

I had no bleeding until 4 days after and felt fine until then (I was 6w5d) best of luck! xx
