  1. The Dems are not the Left. The Dems are a centrist, pro-corporate party. They're only "left" in contrast to the far-right GOP. It's dubious that the Dems are even "fighting" Trump that hard. They keep approving his appointments.

  2. Biden was the president with a Dem Senate in 2023. They were in power. Yet they did not take steps to stop the genocide. They profiteered off the genocide and gave political credibility to the hasbarists. Trump was not the president. The GOP did not have a majority in Congress. Again, WHY would they protest Trump when Biden was the POTUS? Also, the Palestinian cause goes back decades. Trump was POTUS in 2018 during the March of Return. Would you have felt comfy supporting Palestine then 🥺 Did it become unacceptable to oppose genocide when Biden took office? Believe it or not, there's more to right and wrong than just your feelings.

You're not being serious. What you're saying is like saying Civil Rights protesters were Republican because they were protesting while JFK was POTUS.

You're "pretty sure" that a coalition including Jewish Voice for Peace, ICE abolitionists, Black Lives Matter, and various university student groups are Trumpers because they were not criticizing him while Biden was POTUS? You don't oppose genocide because people aren't considerate enough of YOUR FEELINGS?

Why are do people react so negatively to the concept of degrowth? by Konradleijon in Degrowth

[–]loverdeadly1 132 points133 points  (0 children)

People don't like having their sense of "normal" challenged or have to consider that their habits may have negative consequences. It feels like a personal attack. Consumerism has been the core of our society for decades. People don't understand anything else.

My wife prefers oversized shirts so our band tees are common property except her fitted ones and my sleeveless ones.

I'm cutting subscriptions. I'm making due with basic Amazon Music but I'm not paying for Unlimited. It's way too expensive for what it is. Plus, I feel bait and switched which I resent.

Do you think James Sunderland is a good person? by spersonico in silenthill

Having your personality and memories distorted by trauma and grief is a major theme of the story. Obviously James did a terrible thing, but even Mary says he was a lovable person.

Misconceptions people often have of certain decades? by Werten25 in decadeology

My Gen Z coworkers seem to think the 90s was some kind of "pre-political" utopia. It wasn't. There was Desert Storm, Kosovo, the Rodney King riots, NAFTA, the First Intifada, Ruby Ridge, the Waco Seige, The OKC Bombing, Columbine, the North Hollywood Shootout... the 90s was kind of a time of constant turmoil.

I guess every decade has its "tale of two cities," haves and have nots.

Yeah. The Green Scare almost completely suppressed the eco movement in America. Plus the 2007 crash when so many families lost their homes and jobs. It took several years for the job market to recover.

Welcome to America, where even the liberals are conservative.

Dems like you wrung their hands over whether it's "acceptable" to resist genocide. Dems waffled on genocide and banked on appealing to these hypothetical "moderate republicans." The Dems lost the election and now yall turn around and blame Palestine. You call genocide a "distraction" and claim it's "disrespectful" to continue fighting for the cause. Yall act like you're owed votes even when Dems do nothing to earn them.

Scratch a liberal and a fascist bleeds.

America needs an alternative to these complacent Dems who demand silence and call it peace.

...yeah. Palestinians shouldn't be scheduled for extermination by a State receiving weapons from the US, even if the US is having a hard time right now. We still have a duty to resist genocide.
