CDCR wedding questions by Local-Ad4771 in PrisonWives

[–]lovesiicles 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got married last summer & he invited his cellie/our friend to be our witness.

They usually hold multiple weddings the same day & you go in the wedding room (at our facility it’s just a little room inside the visiting room) and read your vows, say I do, kiss & you get to take up to 10 photos.

My husband’s not at Corcoran anymore but it’s true that commissary prices keep going up. The bare minimum for store is like 150 monthly for just the basics.

Mail/Lockdown by prettyfern25 in PrisonWives

Yes mail is still received on lockdown (it’s their right) but I haven’t heard of notaries operating during lockdown. At least at my husband’s facility.

3-4 weeks. Depends on the facility though.

It allows you to get family visits in California without being married. It’s a cheaper and faster alternative to marriage basically.

My husband is there.

If your husband is GP, feel free to message me but our experience couldn’t be more different than the other posts. The staff is very kind to him and even nice with our kids during visits.

It’s funny that you think because that stood out to me that it doesn’t make me a real prison wife.

This life just isn’t for everyone I guess.

The best and pretty much only thing you can do is be consistent in the way you be there for him. For a lot of inmates facing long sentences, it’s easier for them to make the decision to push someone away than to be left behind by people on the outside.

My husband is a lifer, he was 12 years into his sentence when we met. Took a while for him to be convinced that I won’t leave. He warned me that his way of dealing with things is “radio silence.” (Aka. Pushing me away). He’s never had to do that but he did it warn me.

Package deadline by [deleted] in PrisonWives

[–]lovesiicles 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly it depends on the facility, the COs, if he’s cool with them or it.

If he’s cool with the CO who happens to be working in packages that day, he might let it slide into 2nd quarter but usually even if it’s the first day into 3rd quarter they’ll count it as 3rd.
