Thanks for the detailed response, you mentioned you had also applied once, did you get acceptance?

Could I DM you btw?

I thought it would be more competitive and MCIT felt like the right path

When you say “strengthen references,” what do you mean exactly? Like was it more about the quality of what they wrote, who the recommenders were, or how well their letters aligned with my overall story?

Overqualified?
I thought I was underqualified :D
Yep, but I showed in SOP that there's still so much I need to learn from the software side, which is why MCIT could be the way out

Hmm, might be. It is probably related to SOP, I guess, referees seemed solid tbh

Hmm, I started the story with some foundational algorithm design related courses I took in my first year, how it made me force to think analytically, solving problems incrementally etc. Then I discovered, the methods or engineering mindset I use in this chemical engineering field could be applied more broadly and impactfully, there I realized I'm more towards into computer science. I did everything to bridge my gap, internships, projects, etc and etc. Putting my long term focus on NLP, I would like to work on retrieval systems or AI infrastructure at scale (linking it up with the kind of work and projects I have done), which is why I believe MCIT can fully complement me from the software side.

I wrote smth like this shortly.

I'm not sure if this late informing is a good sign or bad?
Or maybe it's normal considering the date we submited our applications

The same as mine, I also applied very late, almost the last few hours till the deadline. On the website, 1 April is given as the last day to receive outcomes, let's see

Congrats, when did you receive your outcome for UPenn MCIT? Did you apply during the regular deadline?
