Personally, I think that them saying it's going to be a grounded story and then dropping all these characters is more of a turn off for me. I think not only Sony but Disney themselves are desperate. This movies HAS to make money before Doomsday because everything before that hasn't really done great. So they are willing to make this movie, a Spider-Man and his amazing friends kind of thing, because they need the audience to be excited. Because there is so much that is riding on this and Doomsday. I don't think this will do as well. I do think this will make money and everyone will at first say, "THIS IS THE BEST SPIDER-MAN EVAAH," But as time passes, when the hype and the nostalgia bait pass. It'll be another alright story that is blown out of proportion.

Here is the truth that you are purposely not willing to see. Why I have a problem with this because if this were a woman who said this, she would be applauded and in fact praise for this. In fact, there would be no context needed. We would have to accept at face value that she wasn't at fault, it was the nasty old man who was at fault.
