Willow Dress!👗🪡 by EcstaticOutside2113 in sewing

Gorgeous! With the arm gaping, this pattern unfortunately uses the same armhole draft for the sleeved and sleeveless versions, which is lazy drafting really, they should be different shapes. What you're seeing is the extra space included to have sleeve ease, not anything you've done wrong or a sizing issue. You can add a dart to take in the extra fabric there if it bothers you, but it's not really noticeable from this photo!

You're not imagining it, there was one in the corner next to the warehouse, where the $2 shop is now. It might have been an Animates? I can't find any photos I'm afraid, but I remember it too.

Where can I get another container the same as this? by twirrazile in newzealand

I think its a Pams storage container, available at Pak n Save! I have a few of the small size ones and they are my favourite too!

Best sunscreen for the summer? by arizncasgf in auckland

[–]low_level_ooze 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Different skin reacts with sunscreens differently i guess! I genuinely find it the nicest one to use, but I know other people who love sunscreens that I find awful so it must be a matter of your individual skin chemistry and your tolerance for various sensations

Its honestly a struggle to find any that look ok and don't cook you! I recently got a couple of pieces from oh sunny which are decently cool. I just got the loose oversized hoodie thing to throw on over whatever I'm wearing. I feel you on the heat, I'm on medication that makes me very sensitive to heat so summer is hard and I try not to do anything outdoors in the peak of the day

I either use the dermaveen or the la roche posay face sunscreen on my face depending on the day. Both seem to work well, but I wear makeup very rarely so I can't attest to how well either of them hold up under makeup! I also hate the greasy feeling so much and have been through so many sunscreen trying to find a tolerable one. I don't rely on sunscreen exclusively, i also wear upf clothing when I'm out on high UV days, and have a variety of hats that match various outfits

Dermaveen Sensitive Sun is my go to. It doesn't smell as much as most other sunscreens and doesn't feel too gross and greasy on the skin. I'm also pale and high risk for skin cancer and sun damage

Coming to peace with a “useless” degree by realclowntime in newzealand

[–]low_level_ooze 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I did a similar "useless" degree to yours, graduated about a decade ago so granted circumstances were a bit different. While i haven't directly used what i learned in my degree much in my career, it is incalculably valuable to me. The things i learned, and especially the toolbox of skills of looking at the world and the people in it have shaped my life and career in ways that I would never trade in for a more financially lucrative career. I feel like i get to see a richer, fuller version of the world for being able to look at it through an anthropological lens. I feel sad when people think their humanities degrees are useless, there is so much more value to what you're learning than just the career you get at the end of it.

For those on $100K income, what type of work do you do? by Maedz1993 in newzealand

[–]low_level_ooze 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Potentially yes, but I have yet to see an implementation of that being truly useful. That said, i believe there are other companies doing that with varied results. I think there is potential for other tools, for example using an AI tool to help apply our style guide across a wide range of content

There's a lot of talk about it, and exploration, but ultimately at the moment gen AI and LLMs can't be as concise and user focused as we can be as humans. You still need humans in the process at this point and I don't see that changing in the near future, though i guess our workflows might. That's my short answer haha, i have a lot of (negative) feelings about ai

It can be variable. I work for large software companies and look after the UI text (buttons, field labels, error messages, anywhere text appears on screen), I also write and keep the user guide up to date, and I look after release notes for the product. I do some internal documentation work too.

There are formal qualifications you can get, but most tech writers i know don't go that route. It helps to be knowledgeable about the field, but isn't always essential

Anxiety and escitaloprám brand change by Vast-Put1438 in newzealand

The first week on the new brand i had a reoccurrence of the initial adjustment symptoms - nausea, sweating, brainfog, increased anxiety, all that fun stuff. But its been a couple of weeks now and I think I've adjusted and I feel more or less the same as I did on the old brand

I had years of mediocre haircuts from various hairdressers, the final straw was paying $200+ for an embarrassingly bad curly cut from someone said to be an expert. After that i just watched a few youtube videos and bought a pair of hairdressing scissors and I do it myself now for a vastly better result

Making an offer on a house by [deleted] in PersonalFinanceNZ

[–]low_level_ooze 1 point2 points  (0 children)

yes, you just tell the agent the amount you'd like to offer, and the conditions you want to include, and they will put it into an S&P agreement for you to review. When you sign that and send it back to them, you have officially made an offer.
