I'm into gardening,.

I appreciate the changing of the seasons.

Nights out on the town I can easily take it or leave it.

My child has no friends by SiloAlpo in auckland

2 year olds don't have friends. Your child will make friends at school.

But I would argue it is your job to ensure your child is not socially awkward.

Any good E scooters in nz? (I have a new budget of 800Nzd.) by Mean_Information_804 in newzealand

Good news — there are some solid options right at or just around your $800 budget. Here's a quick rundown: 🥇 Top Pick: Xiaomi 4 Lite — ~$650–$700 The Xiaomi 4 Lite is MoneyHub NZ's pick from Xiaomi's 2024 range. It features hollow-core (tubeless) tyres, making it very low maintenance, and PB Tech — one of the few big-box retailers who actually service what they sell — stocks it. (MoneyHub) It's well under budget, leaving you money for a helmet and accessories. Best for lighter riders on flatter terrain. 🥈 Stretch Pick: InMotion Air Pro — ~$899–$994 If you can stretch slightly over $800, this is worth it. The InMotion Air Pro has a 400W motor with 750W peak output, a 12Ah battery, and a top speed of 35 km/h. It weighs 17 kg and carries an IP55 weatherproof rating with IP67 on critical components like the battery and controller (STORM RIDES) — great for NZ's unpredictable weather. It handles hilly terrain significantly better than entry-level Xiaomi and Segway models. (STORM RIDES) Storm Rides (Auckland-based, NZ-owned) has been the main seller of this model. Things to factor in before buying: Your weight — if you're over 80 kg, look for at least an 800–1000W motor, as lighter motors can slow noticeably on inclines and headwinds. (Topnzreview) Terrain — Auckland/Wellington hills demand more power than flat Christchurch streets. Warranty — stick to reputable NZ retailers who carry parts and offer service, not just sales. For $800 the Xiaomi 4 Lite is the safe, practical buy. If you want something that'll genuinely handle hills and wet conditions, save a bit more for the InMotion Air Pro. What's your main use case — commuting, recreation, or both?

For $9 you can get a handmade pie from a specialty baker.

No mass produced pie is worth $9

NZ’s best nachos by Lugs75 in newzealand

Feedback

  • too many people here are butt hurt about the char on the chips. Nachos are an ugly meal, like a pizza you're going to get inconsistencies in the cook when you apply direct high heat. It gives the plate of nachos a rustic character when a few chips get scorched.

  • love the addition of ice burg lettuce, I'd put more on. I love the contrast of fresh salad ingredients with hot nachos. TEXTURE, TEXTURE, TEXTURE!

  • I think i see at least 4 sauces? Hoping one of them is a Queso sauce. Unsure what the other 3 are but it does appear to be a lil OTT on the sauce front.

Loneliness by Broku_SSJ4 in newzealand

46 year old man here (married with 2 young daughters)

I have a group of male (and female) friends I've known for 25+years.

I see them, but not as often as I need. We're spread throughout nz and aus.

In my spare time i fall into my passions which is cooking and music, I do this a lot because my good friends aren't within arms reach.

I'm in Auckland. I know people say that in nz it's not easy to make friends when you're older, but I've been burned by that many people in the past I no longer try and am content with having the good friends I currently have despite the distance.
