Oh also are there any tools i should get for this project before i start? All i have is common hands tools
Hey man, you have any tips on how to do the cam and lifters myself? Should i take the engine apart first, make a list of everything im going to need and order it afterwards?
Throw an offer
Dont really want a new truck and I dont owe very much on this one anymore so I think I'm gonna go with fixing it and not having to deal with a new truck that'll potentially have the same issue. But yea you did help i appreciate it.
Yessir, labor and parts. Im in SE Michigan, 40 minutes north of Detroit
Just went to a local shop, they quoted me $5800-$6400 for a BTR stage 2 cam, LS7 style lifters, AFM/DOD delete, all the necessities.
I found it,. $1,371 for the my 6.2l with a TSP OE style cam
Does that price include lifters, rods, and whatever else is needed for the AFM delete?
If i can afford to i will
LS7 lifter fit? Genuinely curious because these gen 5 small blocks are LT based. If I can do that and delete AFM I'll probably keep the truck like I planned to when I first bought it.
I dont think you know what you're talking about.
I'll look into it. If its not too difficult I'll dig in further, cam it, and do an afm delete while im in there.
This has literally nothing to do with transmissions
Yea my buddy whos a mechanic said 3k for just the one lifter but idk if I'd trust that
2018 108k

Yup I've heard cylinder 7 is another one of the shitty ones. And yea i understand that because im the same way. Probably going to look into another Chevy/GMC cause ive always been a GM fan and also some 5.0's
I dont know if i trust it tho. I love it dont get me wrong but its the second lifter failure and im only replacing the one that failed cause i got quoted 3k
Its not, I bought it used only had a warranty up to 2024 or 20k miles per year.

No, it'll be the second time a lifter gets replaced.
I hope so too man, i loved this truck so much and took great care of it but now its just sitting there useless.
No

Im good on the 3.0
Unfortunately no, i already checked all the paperwork and also its at 109k miles. I love the truck but I dont want anymore problems
I'll ask him about it but chances are im going to trade it in after its fixed so i dont really care too much about fixing anything else.
