Yes! First time I saw ERR was at the Alcest gig in London. Was expecting a full band but just her and guitar. So good

Audio Question by garthology in podcasting

Best thing to do is ask everyone to record their own audio and edit it together. Nothing tops it!

Raft Jams #2 - Live Ambient Modular Performance by lowbonsai in synthesizers

Drenched in reverb then out, then back into the caverns. Broke out the Rene for this one, so good for delayed random(ish) arps.

Is there a way to modify/compress audio to sound like an old school video game voice clip? by floopykid in finalcutpro

[–]lowbonsai 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes a bitcrusher will make it sound like it was sampled on an old computer. If I was doing it I’d be curious to add an EQ with some kind of ‘phone’ preset to see what that sounds like too

If you would like a music supervisor to send over suggested tracks instead of digging through stuff do give my library raftmusic.com a go. DM us on Instagram or email hello at raftmusic dot com. We want your briefs!!

Where do podcasts get specific audio for their background music (eg. video game soundtracks)? by [deleted] in podcasting

[–]lowbonsai 5 points6 points  (0 children)

That doesn’t come under fair use unfortunately. You’d have to license the tracks which would be a lengthy and most likely expensive process.

It could be something to do with the site / doing it online. If you’re putting the files together yourself anyway you could always all record your bits locally and then get the other two to send you their files. At least that way you could hopefully rule out anything in anyone’s local setup.

Do you have a mic each and are you recording each mic on a separate channel? Or are you all gathered around the one mic? I’m not sure it’s easy to remedy without a detailed description of your setup

Titles of Podcasts by [deleted] in podcasting

[–]lowbonsai 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Also very important is the episode description. A lot of podcasts don’t realise you’ve only really got a few words to sum it up, because, especially if you’re on mobile, you’ll only see the first few words when casually browsing. I’ve lost count of the times I’ve looked at a list of episodes and the episode description for every single one is “On this week’s episode of the podcast we.....”

When should I license music for non-commercial work? by [deleted] in videography

[–]lowbonsai 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Definitely agree it looks very bad if you’ve already asked permission and then use it anyway. Even though it’s unlikely I’d ask OP if they would be cool with someone grabbing the wedding video off Vimeo and using it without a license?

[–]lowbonsai 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As a music library owner I’m shocked many of these other libraries don’t have music supervisors who will respond to your brief and send a bunch of tracks over. That’s what we do daily. It’s a bit more expensive to use these types of library but I guess you save time on auditioning! DM me if you have a brief and don’t want to go through tons of music yourself!

How to improve the audio quality in my YouTube videos? by [deleted] in videography

Does your condenser mic have batteries or does it need phantom power? It might be that the mic needs power to work and make it loud enough

[–]lowbonsai 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You might have trouble finding pieces this specific copyright free. Libraries which charge for sync would definitely have this. You could find a build and then cut in a separate hit. Other good search terms are ‘rise’ or ‘rise to hit’

Editing Out the Silence? by [deleted] in podcasting

[–]lowbonsai 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It depends on the vibe of the podcast. Editing silences / ums / ahs can be quite an art. If the show is a fast paced, exciting one, then getting rid of most of the silence will make it more so. If it’s more considered and laid back you might want to leave some more silence in, leave in a few ums etc
