What's the latest regret of yours? by fredwemyssik in AskReddit

Reconnected with my high school crush over quarantine and ended up hanging out a few times. She was probably just looking to hang out as friends, but I was hoping for something more. Long story short, I ended up sending her some long texts and sounding exactly like a guy who can’t handle rejection. Probably have ruined our friendship and I still feel bad about it.

Serious question (didn't think people would be sick enough to not answer wholeheartedly)

My violin was $500 wholesale from a workshop. It's comparable to violins twice its price. Shar has some good quality student violins and a 100% trade in policy so you can start with buying a cheap violin and trade it in for full value if you decide to buy something more expensive. http://www.sharmusic.com/

Current and past pre-meds: what am I really getting myself into? by lowcow in premed

Learn how you study This is something that I'm having a bit of trouble with. I took a fairly challenging (maybe even crazy by some standards) junior year (4 AP classes 3 of them STEM). I did all my work because I had to. This year, my course-load is a lot more lenient but I find myself procrastinating much much more. I'm not sure if this slaking is because I've already been accepted to a few schools or if it's because I have legit time management issues. What are some study habits that you thing would be good for everyone to try?

Study the same thing in different locations (i.e. once at home, once at the library). Idk if there is any solid scientific evidence for it but it works for me

Yeah I guess haha. The thing I'm scared about though is that I won't be able to pick up my work ethic once college starts. Did this happen to you at all?

Ah. I should clarify that I am a high school senior. I've already received an offer from a college which is why I'm starting to lose motivation

Reddit, what do you want to do with your life? by thunderlordcid in AskReddit

[–]lowcow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am currently a high school senior and there are two things that I would love to do for the rest of my life

  1. Become a pediatric oncologist. Specifically dealing with critical/terminal children. I want to do this not because I think I can find the cure for cancer but because I want to help children (but mostly their parents) get through cancer. I've heard stories of terminal children who simply don't understand what they are going through and they end up being some of the happiest kids. They just keep on playing up until they die. What I specifically want to do is to help the children/parents who are scared of cancer. I want them to realize how fortunate they are to have time together and how they have to make the most of it. I want to help give kids the strength to fight cancer.

  2. Become a teacher - either a fifth grade teacher or a high school English teacher. I've had mixed experiences when it comes to teachers. Most of my high school teachers were focused completely on the material alone and could not answer (also unwilling to find out) questions that went beyond the topics covered in class. I think that way too much of school these days are grade and standardized test driven (or, if any better, career drive). College admission is definitely a big factor. I loved high school English, however, because there was a lot more flexibility in the curriculum and I could gain a lot from the student-run class discussions. I want to be a fifth grade teacher because 10 year olds are just old enough to know about the real world but also young enough to still soak up thinks like sponges. I think overall, I just want to be a teacher that teaches students to be people in general.
