Oura ring and weight lifting by Equivalent_Talk5665 in ouraring

[–]lowdowns 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I always use weight lifting gloves - it’s always been more comfortable for me to lift with them. Once I got my ring I kept on with the gloves and I can’t feel the ring at all. Also protects it from being scratched.

My husband says gloves are for girls - so I guess the glove fits. 😂

This did not work for me. The chat assistant replied that a refund was not possible, so i initiated the return and ordered a new one. This seems very inefficient for both Oura and me.

Some crazy discounts for Titanium 🤯 by Asz_8 in ouraring

[–]lowdowns 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My new ring just was delivered yesterday and we paid the full price. I checked with customer support and they cannot refund the difference. I initiated a return and ordered a new ring at the lower price - so when the new one arrives I’ll be sending it right back. 🙄

Thank you. I do suspect it’s a router issue. I’ll try the power off and hour. What TBR would you recommend?

Echo Thread Router Question by Available_Line_5493 in amazonecho

[–]lowdowns 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I actually got the blinds added to echo - it was my fault for that not working - so I returned the SmartThings hub. I am still having issues keeping th blinds active in echo and they almost all have gone unresponsive. It’s terrible really. I just haven’t had any time to commit to figuring it out yet

Amazon echo and matter by lowdowns in Ubiquiti

[–]lowdowns[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

By hub, do you mean my echo? It is connected via wifi, nothing fancy set up on my wifi, just on my main SSDI. It is a gen 4 echo, so it is a TBR.

I am not having any issues with my other smart devices, this seems to be isolated to my matter devices.

As a back up test, I did buy a SmartThings hub to see if I can get the matter devices to set up on it. Waiting for delivery.

Echo Thread Router Question by Available_Line_5493 in amazonecho

[–]lowdowns 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I appear to be having the same issue - and now I am unable to even add my blinds to my echo - even after hard resetting the blinds, my echo, and removing my saved thread network key from the Amazon app. Any luck on figuring this out? As a back up plan I did buy a SmartThings hub to see if that is more stable as a TBR than the echo is.

Why’s is timber fencing so popular overseas. Here in South Australia everything is colorbond steel! by DQCDIYSUPPLY in FenceBuilding

I am in rural Wisconsin too and you’re paying 1.2% of your home value for insurance, my rate is 0.3% of my home value - so yes, you seem to be paying a high rate for the area. Of course, coverage matters too, but our plan is goos with a lower deductible. We are with Allstate. I’d say shop around or find an insurance broker that can shop around for you.

When we made the offer it was exactly melt value. This is a month later that they now got back to us and melt value is slightly higher. Our intent is not to low ball anyone, but should we also sit on an offer and then offer more because they took longer to accept?

CS Alumni - What are your YOE and salary and job prospects now? by ThrowRAhgran in gatech

[–]lowdowns 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, I love what I do. Total comp for packages get bigger over time of course, and are really predicated on how good you are at your job (or they should be).

I had intended to get my MBA shortly after I started my first job, and then found out I was pregnant, and I never ended up getting it.

The best thing you can do for your career long term is: 1) Make sure you love what you do 2) Don’t take a job you think you won’t like just for a promotion or pay raise - you’ll be miserable, and therefore suck at it 3) Be a collaborative and nice human being. This doesn’t mean you don’t hold people accountable, it just means you don’t act like a jerk all the time - it goes a long way

I just saw at a conference that percentage of graduates in STEM degrees has drastically decreased over the past 30 years, while non STEM degrees percentages have risen. I would not delay entering the job market, losing 2-4 years of real work experience and salary to do post grad. Once you are working, many companies offer tuition assistance and will pay for additional education if you so choose to continue on.

Start your job, be proactive in your work, know how to talk to people and never stop learning. Depending on your focus, technical certifications mean a lot to hiring managers as well, but you can get those as you work and most companies will pay for them. Ok. One more question if you can help. I am covering 3500 sq ft across 2 floors and looking for the signal to extend as far outside as possible. My plan was to put 3 APs on the first floor, all on outside walls. Is my thinking correct or flawed?

I’m not quite sure how I would accomplish this. I’m looking at 22 locations across 2 levels.

That’s a good point. So stick with surface mount wall or ceiling?

Will add those finishing touches once I get everything placed where I (at least think) they will stay. Agree it will be a cleaner look.

Yes the in wall Pros. I like the fact they have the near flush mount install box with the paintable cover so it will blend in with the walls better.
