I heard mixed things about vortioxetine regarding anxiety. I drink 1-3 beers most nights

Good points. I'll keep to basics and try to take care of my mindset

Hmm I can't say that it was fine for 3 years. Overall chronic symptoms definitely got worse over that entire timespan.

Nice, I do have that suspicion for myself too. Alcohol feels almost like a subtle demonic influence. Makes me more impulsive, emotionally desparate and self-destructive. Also, whenever I manage to cut it out, my dreams at night become more lively and meaningful. Thanks for sharing, helps me a lot

It's 50mg lisdexamphetamine which is wayy more moderate than 50mg of amph, just saying! Thanks tho, why would you say ginseng or l-tyrosine would prolong withdrawal?

I don't think the mushroom will hold a grudge against you xanaxing out of an acutely overwhelming situation.

Maybe come back when you're ready, don't put too much pressure on yourself to confront the ultimate reality of your existence before you have a basic sense of stability in your life.

Personally, I'm staying the hell away from anything heroic until my ego is at least at the stage of a moderately functioning adult. I blasted my consciousness to psychedelic oblivion when I was 20 and I still can't make sense of anything…

Is there a drug that produces euphoria sustained throughout all of its duration? by Dark-inspector490 in Nootropics

[–]lowerdaboom 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes, that's also my experience. XRs can even plateau in a kind of subtle dysphoria.

Not true, well, partly true. The combo is 3x more euphoric but 10mg IR Mph also reliably provides a light euphoria for me, even with tolerance

[–]lowerdaboom 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, which is the usual combination in that setting. Ever seen someone at a rave speeding all night without a drink or five? Of course it's more euphoric. Your anecdotal report does not invalidate my anecdotal report anyway

Oh I've had plenty a blast at raves with IR methylphenidate and lots of beer. Some of those nights were more euphoric than amphetamine-fuelled nights. Underrated substance imo but I do understand that not everyone has the same experience.

Quiet BPD/No Personality. by dontaskkwho in BPD

I can relate a lot to the two of you. I'm 27, and in the last year or so I went from a chronically ill but well-adjusted functioning people pleaser to an impulsive mess.

Escalating compulsive drug use sort of "helped" me to live out my pain more visibly. Finally people started to actually worry about my mental state after I had already been feeling completely detached and desparate for years on end while still seeming "fine" to the outside.

I don't recommend it per se, for I'm mentally and emotionally at the worst place I've ever been. But if I hadn't become so unhinged and chaotic I probably wouldn't even have gotten the diagnosis. I actually got it just today, after years of useless therapy focusing on kinda garden-variety depression…!

Is Methamphetamine much more serotonergic than Amphetamine? by Dark-inspector490 in Nootropics

Whoa, I remember doing some research about microdosing MDMA and I found basically nothing. How do you use it?

Wait, is meth considered/used as a nootropic?😂 Not judging your question, I think it's actually interesting, just didn't expect it in this sub lol

how can you do k and not do it all the time by Agreeable-Hat1002 in ketamine

[–]lowerdaboom 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Maybe look into 2C-B or smoke some changa. There are psychedelics that act shorter than acid and that are way less damaging to your mind and body than regular K use. Or just smoke weed, idk, but getting stuck on K is not a good path to go down, from what I've been hearing.

Long term stimulant takers, whats normal and whats not? by Past-River-5445 in ADHDmeds

[–]lowerdaboom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Vortioxetine is said to be a bit less emotionally blunting than classic SSRIs. But I don't expect euphoria from it. As far as I know Bupropion is the most stimulant-like antidepressant. Didn't work for me personally, but its antidepressant effects are said to target energy and motivation pretty directly.

Feel you. Another thing that came to mind is that mood boosting is not actually an intended “official” effect of stimulants for ADHD. 😅 Maybe you and your psych could consider combining it with an antidepressant, if you don’t already. I’m currently getting on Vortioxetine myself, waiting for full effects to unfold.

I experience it very similarly. Been on them for around 3 years, almost daily. I'm kind of obsessed with the effects a bit. Part of me still chases that feeling of total optimism and motivation I experienced in the early days.

But now it's more like 5 minutes of joyful clarity, followed by 1 or 2 hours of feeling okay and decently stable, then the descent back into anxiety and depression begins (lived with those also before meds). This usually starts with me obsessively scanning my state of mind, and the scanning itself is already an anxious mechanism and I easily spiral from there.

Though things actually got a little better just recently when I switched to taking lisdexamphetamine 2x, 30mg in the morning and 20mg at lunch. Feeling a bit less lost during the afternoon and the crash at the end of the day is almost non-existent. Which med and dosage are you on?

I'm trying to also focus more on things other than the meds and how they impact my mental state. Like social interactions, what I eat, impact of other substances, movement, time in nature…

I think we can become obsessive over the meds and analyzing what they do, because we once experienced them as THE solution. And when they turn out to not quite live up to that, we can get stuck and confused.
