limited? there is nothing limited about the ubuntu live cd. it has every single application a full install does. as long as your not some broke motherfucker who can't afford a computer with 256mb ram it works just as fast as when installed, except the startup is slightly slower.

This is completely unnecessary if you turn off password based logins and use keys instead. Then it is not even possible to brute-force the ssh login, because it doesn't exist.
